What Can I Do to Stop It Getting Worse?

The tinnitus has been pretty constant for the last month now.

For a while, I thought it was going away, but I think maybe I'm starting to habituate. I guess that's a positive thing.

Still, I feel anxious and depressed about this thing that I feel I have no control over. I talked about it in my introduction thread - but I always wore ear plugs to gigs and didn't listen to headphones that loud.

How can I stop the tinnitus from getting worse in future (or at least lower the risk of it getting worse)?

I'd like to stop worrying about it and feel like I'm doing everything I can to prevent it.

carry earplugs with you, avoid unreasonably loud environments, don't take drugs that you don't absolutely need to (and educate yourself as to what drugs are actually ototoxic (http://www.asha.org/public/hearing/Ototoxic-Medications/))

 

Do you folks wear earplugs to the movies?

 

I never go to movies anymore, or concerts as I have hyperacusis (sensitivity to sounds) along with T.I find that whenever I even go to a loud restaurant, my T becomes too much for me to deal with, even with earplugs. I'd say be very careful especially in the beginning. But, that's just my 2 cents.

 

My advice to myself when I got T was no more loud events. I had planned to see more Musicals but I realise I can't. I have not attended any firework displays either. I had to attend a loud party but wore ear plugs, if I have attend a church service with speakers I where ear plugs. I am going to be boring and sensible for the rest of my life, sad really.

 

@Purple Parrot. Im not letting tinnitus stopping me from going to the movies so I wear a good quality earplug.
