      Hi everyone,

I am thinking about changing jobs soon and not sure what to do next.

Let's share what our job / career is?

Past / Present / Future jobs all accepted.

Currently I'm working in an office, inputting data onto computer all day. I find it increasingly boring and hopefully will change jobs soon.

I am sales manager (title will change to partner coordinator, same work tasks tho) at a gaming company (think EA, Blizzard).

Love where I work, love my co-workers and hopefully never leaving the gaming industry!

Im a software engineer and I love it. The project I'm working on makes my company a lot money (ethically lol) and it pays very well. My boss knows about my tinnitus so he's very lenient with my work hours and in return I do good work.

It definitely offsets the anxiety of tinnitus.

Well - my company thought so highly of my work they dismissed me. I was there for only 30 years. Civil and construction engineering.
After I putz around the house awhile I'd like to do something that helps other people. Mentoring, patient advocate....something along those lines.

      Hello,
I'm currently a student at a polytechnic. I'm still in my first year, first semester in fact. I'll be studying until 2019 if there are no major problems in my life from now until then. So far everything has been going well.

In the summer and early fall of 2012 I was doing a ton of research for post-secondary education and careers. I had finally reached a good place in life, and was looking forward to constructing a lucrative future for myself. Then I was struck with severe hyperacusis, vertigo and headaches, which demolished my entire life.

4 years later, at age 27, I'm on disability and live with my parents. I will probably never have a meaningful career. When my parents are gone I will likely not be able to find suitable living accommodations, and my options for survival will be bleak.

I cannot use telephones. I suffer from intense brain fog, chronic physical weakness and fatigue. I have chronic hand pain, so the amount of time I can spend typing per day is limited. I am beginning to have trouble with my eyesight as well.

I have virtually no extended family, and my immediate family doesn't have much money. I have absolutely no idea how I will manage 15-20 years down the road. If I didn't have a helpful family and social assistance, I would be dead already.

I was a Teacher for 11 years, but resigned 3ish years ago to take a year off and help my husband in his small business, then I decided instead of going back to teaching I'd pursue a career in the medical field as a Surgical Technologist and began studies at a local community college. I'm scheduled to graduate in December, but not sure if I'll be able to get a job in my chosen field because of my T, as it is distracting and intrusive. My future job requires good hearing and attention to detail, 2 things I'm a struggling with at the moment.

Lawyer. My life's on hold right now due to my medical issues. It's not just the T. I also get headaches and suffer from a dry nose and back of throat, as well as Eustachian tube issues. I also get pulsatile T when I'm in certain positions. However, the T is mild and it comes and goes. That means there's also hope for it to completely go away. Thus I'm going to sort out my issues before moving on with life. I know that's not the standard advice here on TT, but I never had any noise exposure and I doubt I had serious ototoxicity so I'm determined to find a cause and resolution.

Good for you. I'm not a big fan of the "accept whatever it is" advice. There may be an answer out there for you, and there's no reason to deny yourself the chance of finding it.

Yeah for example if someone has a confirmed diagnosis of say cancer, they can "move on." Or any known disease for that matter. Well except for diseases that are merely syndromes or a named disease that is just a compilation of symptoms. I think you get my point.

I'm a self employed farmer. I'm the sixth generation in my family to farm, and some of our ground has been in our family over 150 years. I've been around farm machinery all my life, and that's where my tinnitus came from. Going on nearly 20 years of dealing with it, and I'm 34.

I'm a software engineer and web developer (when duty calls) but I have a couple of tutoring gigs going.
Teaching is definitely the greatest distraction. When I'm with a student I am pretty much back to normal, completely forgetting the t.

I've done .NET development for my last 2 jobs... it's a good platform.

Throughout college and as a hobbyist I've worked with a ton of languages/platforms. Gotta keep those skills diversified.
