Wife Can Hear It! Cerebral Angiogram Scheduled

So, a lot has transpired today with my pulsatile tinnitus. First, for the first time since I've had this for 4 weeks, my wife could hear it! It was the loudest it has ever been today and when she put her head next to mine, she heard the whoosh!

Also, I got a cerebral angiogram scheduled. It is for next Wednesday. I very scared, but since the MRA didn't show anything, I think I really need this test. I worry about how my leg will feel and I worry about the stuff they shoot into me. I worry about the risk of stroke, but for all I know, I'm already at a high risk due to whatever could be causing my PT.

So anyway, there is my update. For anyone who has had a cerebral angiogram, please tell me it isn't that bad.

In case of pulsatile tinnitus your doc should use his stethoscope!

 

I was diagnosed with pulsating tinnitus in September 2017. I have had an CATA, MRA and a cerebral angiogram. All images have come back clear. My PCP told me not to have the cerebral angiogram because I had the MRA but I didn’t listen. I ended up having six infarctions during the procedure after the catheter dislodged plaque that broke off and because they were shooting dye into my vessels and looking at my vessels in my head, the plaque went to my brain. Very minor but I’m left with sensory issues in my right side of my mouth and fingers on my right hand. Every specialist agree the mini strokes were due to the procedure. But my confidence has been shaken. My tinnitus went away after the mini strokes because my brain was occupied with healing. The tinnitus came back with a vengeance 3 months after but now I get the vibrations and tingling with it now. I’ve had another MRI after the mini strokes and all clear.

@GJSCAR I'm sorry you had issues during your angiogram! That scares me. I was told the chance of stroke for me is less than .5 percent.

I worry about a clot and plaque. I'm 40 in relatively good shape but I have had high cholesterol.

Still hoping some people can put me at ease saying their angiogram experience was ok.

 

Doug I was less than 1% and it really could have been the doctor. But my PCP said if you have had the MRA and the CATA and everything was negative that I should reconsider the more invasive procedure. Well I didn’t listen. I’m lucky and blessed because when these types of risks from this procedure happen the damage from the stoke is very minor. I’m a testament to that. Good luck and think it through.
