So, we’ve lost our precious silence, or rather, our “quiet.”
We grieve for it every day. We are bound to.
However, it is now more crucial than ever that we can reach and maintain a sense of peace.
Meditation, to some extent, can help.

At the beginning, I was floored, wrecked, sobbing, desperate, distraught, finished,
      I saw no hope.

But eventually, with acceptance of the inevitable, I am no longer ‘standing on the edge.’
I experimented: I found that I could still go out and meet people, converse, socialise, amuse, be amused, read, listen to music, play music, join in life once again.

The background is no longer a quiet one, of course, but I have not allowed that to restrict me.
This “thing” has landed on my plate, and there is no alternative, but to take it on board, cope with it, and win through.

I intend to emerge feeling proud of myself, content, and at peace.
We’ve been dealt a really tough hand, and we are proving that we can find a way through.
We all survive by finding a dash of heroism.
We all deserve that “pat on the back.”

      Best Wishes everybody. xx

I fully agree, with what you have said. In my opinion, there many things far worst than tinnitus. My FIBRO has been ruthless on me tonight and it has been quite rattling. The ears ring and roar loud as usual, but the pain that comes with fibro is beyond unforgiving. Tinnitus is a horrible thing, but chronic pain is beyond horrible.

I hope all can find peace, in what jazzer posted. Kudos to you bro, keep fighting for what you believe in. As long as I am alive, I will always fight for what I believe in :)

@Jazzer Nice post. I would keep your trombone clean. US health agencies have reports of trombonists getting tinnitus from fungal infections.

Greg - my bone is clean as a whistle,
it doesn’t play well if there’s any ‘crud,’
but thanks for the warning old sport....

@Jazzer Glad to hear that - no pun intended. There's plenty of articles about this. Mostly the cause is crypococcus - bird dropping dust that floats in the air. Most don't have a problem with this. It's mostly occupational, but bone players are listed high on the list. 80% of people in certain Midwest towns of the USA do test slightly positive. Also New York City and New Orleans bone players. I would think that those in New York City are roof top players.

@fishbone Do you reckon your Fibro was brought back on by the stress of T? I’m currently being plagued by fibromyalgia symptoms and reckon it’s been brought on by the stress of my ears!

Stress can do lots of things to our bodies. The fibro and the tinnitus are annoyed big time from stress and anxiety. When I got fibro about 10 years ago, acid reflux and gastritis also came for me. I face these elements daily and not much of a cure for me.

If we listen to our bodies, then we get a good idea...as to why things happen at times. I finally figured out, that when my acid reflux is peaking, then it simply makes the fibro 10 to 100 times worst and the pain is beyond horrible and of course the tinnitus is 10 times louder as well.

Life is all about trial and errors. Hope we can learn from our lessons and have a better quality life :)

@fishbone Wow! You poor thing, that’s a lot of stuff to be dealing with on top of T. I agree that stress and anxiety is a killer, my t was brought on as a result of it. So very difficult to control when you are in a vicious loop. You sound very strong and positive. Good on you.
