Right, so I was maybe a bit silly the other night. I was out in loud environments, music playing etc. My band was playing nearby with a substitute guitar player, but they asked me to do a few. So, I did. I just felt like I was so fed up with all this that I don't really care what happened to me and that I just want to do what I love doing. I wore my musicians ear plugs all night.

I took them out just before I set off home. I had no loud ringing like I usually would after a gig. The hiss was really quiet. I was awake for a few hours when I got home and my ears all felt fine. I felt quite content that the ear plugs had done their job.

Woke up the next morning and all was still quite calm. I'd had a really good day the day before so I thought I was seeing progress.

But then from about 11am yesterday, I just feel like the hiss has been a tiny bit louder than usual and more constant rather than fluctuating.

Have I done further damage or is it just doing its own thing? I just thought if I'd made them worse through noise I'd have known about it when I got home that same night. But as I say, everything seemed fine.

Sorry for posting again. Still in a bit of a rut with all this.

could certainly be a delay between cause and more symptoms.

Sorry, just not in the best of places at the moment. I think these dark winter nights mess with my head too. Feeling pretty much how I was when this first started tonight.

I did have a quieter period this afternoon. But now it's in full force again.

I struggle to believe that I will ever get used to this noise. Of course I worry about making it worse. And then I worry about not living as how I would like. I worry that the treatments on horizon might never come to fore, and that ultimately, they will not work for me.

Just having a rough night. Still relatively new to all this.

I was reading Eckhart Tolle tonight. Not sure if anyone on here knows much about his writings. Basically, he teaches the power of living in the 'now'. He also teaches about getting rid of your own ego. To let go of everything you ever thought about yourself etc. It's just freaked me out a bit...

No. My loud T came back many hours after the concert.

Every person that has intrusive tinnitus goes through what you are experiencing @Pabl692 It is just the way that it is until things begin to settle down and they will. Give it time and read my posts in the links below for some reassurance.
Have a talk with your doctor if stress and anxiety start affecting you too much.

Not necessarily, to me it was weeks after. It has happened twice this way already. The spikes sadly never settled down. In one occasion I was wearing protection not on the second incident.

      Hope it settles for you.

In my case it was not instant. Last huge spike happened 2 weeks after the exposure. Still here after 1+ year. As usual with long exposures, around 4 hours, whatever tinnitus I had almost became non-existent for the next few days. For me it was a telltale sign that further damage has been made and tinnitus will come back louder, permanently. Had this happen at least a few times so it's quite consistent. Last time I was taking at least 400mg magnesium citrate a week before and two weeks after the exposure and that didn't really make a difference given it's supposed to protect hair cells from toxicity.

If the next day after exposure my tinnitus is as loud as usual I can relax a bit. Whatever damage that was caused should be minimal, at least in most cases.
