If the tinnitus was originally noise induced three things will usually cause new sounds to develop.

    1) Further exposure to sound that irritates the auditory system, which doesn't have to be loud.
    2) Stress
    3) Hyperacusis or oversensitivity to sound that is left untreated.

Developing new sounds in noise induced tinnitus doesn't usually occur random. There is always a reason for it.

Is there a chance the new sound will go away? I think it was caused by stress and sleep deprivation. Possibly music but I haven't listened loud. I have TTTS also it seems

The sound is a possibly "reactive" low rhythmic hum that varies in intensity

There is always the possibility the new sound will go away. However, it depends what caused it to develop? If it is stress then this needs to be reduced. Sometimes professional help with a Therapist/counsellor might be required.

I have no idea what caused it to develop. It just seems random

I did get TTTS after buying my speakers though. I think it’s time to sell Everything and just try to forget music exists.. I knew I had to give it a try though. Anyway, I will continue the seemingly impossible project of falling asleep now

I will never learn the reason for this new sound, and so I will never be able to listen to music even if it was caused by something else

I measured my listening level, it's around 55-60 db... If that can cause damage then well, there's no use trying to listen at all.

New sounds maybe random but I don't think so. Yesterday, someone in this forum telephoned me and we talked for a long time. He has developed new sounds. I asked him about his lifestyle. Unfortunately he has a lot of stress in his life which I can't go into detail - this is the crux of his problems.

As I have previously suggested to you to. I don't think it's a good idea selling your HI-FI, this could affect you more emotionally and you don't want that. Look at your life. Most of the world has been affected by Covid 19, this and life inherent problems which we all have is can affect tinnitus a lot.

I have had new sounds randomly develop. If there is no direct noise-related injury, I would expect it to go away. I agree that low sounds can cause new tones. I am currently experiencing a nasty spike because of my iPhone low battery alert that went off when I was on the phone. But, several times I've developed scary loud tones for no apparent reason that have faded away after some time.

I am only referring to Noise induced tinnitus and my belief is the unchanged:
New sounds develop for 3 reasons. The first, is further exposure to loud noise. 2nd, If a person is sensitive to moderate or low level sound and a spike occurs or new sound develops, the usual reason their hyperacusis has not been treated. 3rd cause is stress.

I think stress could be the reason. I developed the new sound during a time where my PTSD got triggered by some events at night. I got PTSD from having my apartment bombed many years ago..
