Heh! I remember a time when he was famous just for dressing in a romper suit and bashing a set of drums. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡° )

@Steph1710 He's definitely a good reason to watch the show and I also forgot to mention Noel Fielding! Loved the guy as the businessman-turned-depressive emo in The IT Crowd:) You're so lucky to have so many great comedians in the UK.

@Vassili they don't often use that kind of rough language as they probably do on your very own Estonian baking programme, lol;)

@Damocles I'm sure he has more tricks up his sleeve than that! Do you also remember Lucas in the role of Daffyd Thomas? There aren't a lot of people who pull it off in a latex costume, but this guy certainly does:)

ah sorry @Christiaan, just not a very big fan of Lucas (or Walliams, for that matter!) in general.

If you want recommendations for the platinum standard of British comedy, then you want to be watching anything created by Ricky Gervais or Chris Morris. (Also anything by Graham Linehan, but then we're veering into Irish terrain...)

@Damocles Ah, I understand. Thanks for giving some tips& hints;) ) Ricky Gervais has a nice way of giving a philosophical (especially existential) touch to his kind of humour, don't you think? After Life was definitely a good show in that regard. Irish comedy seems to be in a bit of a mix with British humour, if I'm not mistaken?

I personally loved Black Books (especially the absurd situations!) and IT Crowd. You don't see those shows of that quality anymore. Though I have to add you lot in the UK need to hold on to Greg Davies as a national treasure. The guy is just brilliant! If you haven't seen Cuckoo and Man Down, you won't regret watching it on Netflix

You're very correct @Christiaan; Gervais does frequently scrutinise societal norms, for example in "The Invention of Lying". But then, even just in his demeanour at the Golden Globe Awards, you can see he likes to push the boundaries of what people consider "acceptable". I have literally never seen an awards ceremony as entertaining as the ones he hosted.

1/2: I actually think Irish comedy is quite unique in comparison to British comedy (something to do with Ireland having maintained more of its archaic cultural hangovers, due to having suffered a lot less progression over the last two decades), but it DOES translate very well over here.

2/2: People in the UK (especially England) are very enamoured with Irish culture and the Irish accent, so we're always hungry for a new Irish comedy!

HA HA!! Yes, I am very fond of Greg Davies!

Loved (the first season of) Cuckoo, and (all of) The Inbetweeners.

He's also great in Taskmaster, if you've seen that?

@Damocles Some of those Irish shows does seem unique and yet somehow old-fashioned in some ways. If you've seen Mrs. Brown's Boys, you'd probably think that they're stuck in the past. I mean, is it really a novelty to see a man dressed as a flamboyant granny + with all that slapstick humour. We've already survived the 90's by watching those kind of shows:)

Most Irish comedians are great. You'd probably like Jason Byrne , Dylan Moran & Chris O'Dowd as much as I do. I also love Dara O'Briain, but his accent is so thick, I always use subtitles to help me understand this guy XD

You mean THE Greg Davies? That magnificent beast is going to present Taskmaster? He would certainly be a nice addition to the squad. The problem is that I can't receive Channel 4 in the Netherlands, but I try to get a glimpse of the show on Youtube. Another thanks for this tip btw!
