dude. off yourself when you can't hear music without it sounding like garbage, or if when people speak it's robotic. If ANYTHING can mask it, do that. If it's new the chances of it getting quieter over the next couple years is substantial. fyi H follows T pretty much always.

Sorry to know you’re suffering so damn bad! BUT if you’re fairly new to T/H, I wouldn’t pull the plug just yet. Trust me, we all feel like dying to begin with. We all feel there is no point in living for at least a good 6 months to a year. You do get used to it. I wouldn’t ever let your ears get the better of you. X

Drank my self to oblivion last night and woke up better. My T isn't the issue. Its the H. The constant burning ears. Touchwood my T is mild it doesn't even spike. Haven't had problems sleeping. Like at this level I can cope with T. But its The H its beating me ass.

What sent me off yesterday was the fact that I saw another ent who said to me that I'm on edge and therefore am.sensitive to noise and completely threw H out the wimdow. I have letters to prove that these ents have just been telling me I'm anxious. Like these mofos went to medical school to just learn the word anxiety and how to link it to every condition. Its disrespecting those who generally suffer from Gad.

It's a damn mess with those ENTs and I'm sorry you had to go through all of that. Is it worth a try to get into contact with other doctors (with specialisation in audiology)? It seems that Dr. Baguley (Nottingham Uni),Dr. Fackrell (Southampton Uni) and Dr.Shekhawat (London Uni College) have done some research in the field of H. Perhaps you can contact them

@Bimmerboy have you tried Keppra yet? There are few accounts on this forum claiming that Keppra helped with their hyperacusis.

@Bimmerboy I do have H, but I live in complete denial about it. I suppose I’m used to my ears constantly feeling full, and burning hot at every sound. I listen to music everyday, and everyday it hurts lol.

Steph, your message above reminded me of the following Dave Barry quote:

"You must not be afraid. Oh, sure, you got burned and you got hurt. But that is no reason to give up. You must show the same kind of gumption as the cowboy, who, if he gets thrown off a horse, climbs right back on, and if he gets thrown off again, climbs right back on again, and so on, until virtually all of his brain cells are dead."

@buttercake my gp is an idiot, instantly says ask the ent as your under their care. And shrugs me off. Ent say talk to go about this as it sounds like nerve pain. Going to have a go again tomorrow to see what I can get.

@Steph1710 see what your doing, my friend has H and he says he does the same thing. Lives in denial because there's so little to support the condition he just convinces himself its all in his head and copes that way. I mean he copes well, if only I could do the same.
