You were going to restaurants without earplugs?

@Damocles Yea, I wore plugs to restaurants for 2 months when I first developed very minor H last summer. Slowly weaned off of them and had no problem going to restaurants/cafes afterwards. Covid fucked me up late December and has kicked T/H into overdrive.

Yesterday was a wake up call to protect myself moving forward.

@makeyourownluck received initial shots and booster. Took booster two weeks before infection.

Sorry to hear this @Matt G. It sounds like your T and H were very stable prior to this year.

That being the case though, hopefully you can reach that level of stability once again, somewhere down the line.

I'd recommend taking some anti-inflammatory supplements (such as Turmeric) if possible, as you say the COVID-19 was the likely cause of the new (increased) baseline.

From what I've heard, it was the spike protein in both the vaccines and the virus that was responsible for damage to internal organs (like the cochlea), and I've read some people managed to remedy their bad reactions with anti-inflammatories.

@Damocles thank you for the kind words, and giving me some helpful information. I just ordered some curcumin supplement with added ginger/pepper extract.

I try to keep up with everyone’s stories as much as possible, but remind me again, did you ever have/still have pain hyperacusis?

Yeah, I still suffer pain hyperacusis to a tiny degree, @Matt G. But it is miniscule in terms of what I once suffered.

My tinnitus became severe and I developed severe hyperacusis in 2009. From there it was an uphill struggle with anxiety, isolation and set backs. However after (coming up for) 13 years, my tinnitus and hyperacusis are finally stable, and allow me to live a semi-full life.

My man, I am so sorry @Damocles. No human being should ever have to experience this for one single day, let alone 13 years.

I am so happy for you and the progress that you have made so far. I’m sure you wish it was sooner, but just know you provide me with great inspiration that things will get better eventually.
