Hello Sara, thank you for asking. Unfortunately not really. :/ My T might slowly be going down a little bit, but it's still at least 50% louder than before. But my H is the real problem, it has taken on huge proportions. Even the buzzing of the fridge or the sound of my own voice are unpleasant to me now. And my ear hurts a lot too.

And you? How are you these days? I hope you're seeing some progress.

Hi Karel, thanks for replying. Well I'm at the same place than you. Voices and phone calls didn't bother me. Now I'm struggling. I'm a bit better than days ago but I feel tha my healthy ear has been damaged. Well I try to stay strong, and every little progress is a victory for me :). The fridge's buzzing is unpleasant to me as well. I keep praying for going better though :).

I try to remind myself that apparently for a lot of people H slowly gets better over time. It's been 2,5 months now since this happened to me but maybe it just needs more time..
Have you ever tried pink noise or TRT? I might do TRT in a few months.

That is what people say. I believe my H was moderate cause I got only one ear which was concerned (the other one was sensitive but it was light). In my case, even before this new setback, white or pink noise seem to not work and make it worse. I won't risk doing worse by doing TRT.

What is you way of life (not scrutinizing but just to analyse why your H is still at this level)?

Up until this setback happened I could manage my T and H on my own so I never needed to try pink noise before. I listen to it occasionally now, but sometimes I also feel it makes my ear hurt. But to be fair my ear hurts a lot at the moment so I'm not certain.
I hear good things about TRT so I want to try it at least.

My way of life? Well, I'm trying to stay in quiet places as much as possible of course. I'm very lucky, I have a quiet job (office job with my own room) and the neighborhood I live in is tranquil too. But there's always some noise, and everything is too much for my hearing now it seems. I'm considering starting to wear earplugs whenever I go outside, as some other people with this condition do too.

Oh ok, you didn't wear earplugs? I use to wear them often in "loud" places and always had my earmuffs with me. Now for me it's impossible to go outside (except very quiet place) without my muffs. My ears hurt so much when wearing plugs. S?!$. Well your H doesn't seem to affect your way of life for now, you can still handle it?

In my case, my left ear is hurting plus my left part of my face. I cannot do anything when this pain occurs. I try to be strong but everyday is challenge oh Gosh.

I try to avoid wearing earplugs because I've read in several places that that can actually make the ears more sensitive. But my ear hurts so often, I think maybe it's time I start doing that too, yeah..

As for not letting it affect my life... I don't really have a choice. I'm in my late thirties, I live alone, and T&H are not a a valid reason for disability leave here. I'll have to keep going out to work, the supermarket, and other places... I don't really see an alternative. If some day my condition gets so bad that that's impossible, I don't know what I'll do anymore.
