15-Year-Old with Tinnitus — Could I Have Otosclerosis? Can My Tinnitus Go Away?

So, I'm a 15-year-old kid who live in Toronto. I got my tinnitus two months ago. I came through a lot, tinnitus actually helped me grow up.

I first noticed my tinnitus in a quiet night when I was studying. I felt like there was a Cicadidae yelling all the time. It was actually my tinnitus. One week after, I went to a Chinese medicine place and did Acupuncture. Which did help it go away but it then came back, with stronger, static sound.

I still didn't see an ENT because it takes forever to make an appointment with them. Takes forever. There's a feeling of puffing up but no pressure inside my ear, really weird.

Is it possible I have otosclerosis? This thing scares me.

BTW is it possible that my tinnitus is going to fade away?

 

Why would you think that?

Go see a doctor.

 

Yes, tinnitus fades for many people. Have you experienced any fading compared to how it was a month ago?

I can't say it'll go away or not but if it's not noise induced, you have more chance to make a full recovery. Anyway, your tinnitus is still new and chances are it will fade away.

How did it start? Have you been exposed to a loud noise recently? Do you have TMJ problem? What about ETD?
There are numerous things which may cause tinnitus. You must see an ENT asap.

 

Yes, it went away but came back.

 

Because I heard it can never be cured....... so .......

 

Hmm, I never exposed to any loud noises... I have no idea why tho... Whenever I pinch my notes and breath pressures go inside my ear super easily...

 

Hopefully those pauses will keep getting longer and longer.

Yes, there is treatment for otosclerosis in terms of surgery, but my understanding is it progressively worsens. As @GregCA (who has otosclerosis) asked - why do you think you have it?

You need to be evaluated by an ENT as only they can help diagnose you IF you have this condition. That's a big IF.
I know it's scary, but it's more than likely that you don't have otosclerosis. Is there anyone in your family that has it?
Have you noticed that you've lost hearing?

 

I'm Asian and no one in my family have any issue with ears at all...
