So I have read a few research papers on the adipose derived svf stem cell. This is one of them. That I found. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5028862/#!po=20.5882. It is not about tinnitus, but it’s concerning safety of the treatment. Also not an unimportant factor in any treatment as I don’t want to make stuff worse as it already is.

I have read several stories (anecdotal evidence) now on here where people stated that that it might be a beneficial treatment for tinnitus. The only thing that I am worried about is that it seems that the people that have benefited most from these treatments seems to have all been people where the cause of their tinnitus has been an autoimmune issue with their body. Mine has been caused by hearing loss and ototoxic medications.

Does anyone on the board have any experience with this treatment for noise exposure?

There is only 1 person on this board that have confirmed it helped their tinnitus and it was umbilical cord msc, not adipose.

Save your money, wait for the science.

This article from 13 June 2017 discusses a doctor from Texas, USA who experienced success with adipose stem cells to treat Meniere’s Disease.

No mention if tinnitus was one of his symptoms (he does cite hearing loss and vertigo), but nevertheless I think an interesting anecdote of someone with an inner ear disorder (that apparently was not autoimmune related) and benefited from adipose stem cell therapy.

      https://www.ksat.com/news/politics/...wing-texans-to-use-own-stem-cells-as-medicine

Also, here on Tinnitus Talk, there is a recent anecdote of success with adipose stem cell therapy for hyperacusis. So, while the jury seems to be out on tinnitus, there are some interesting positive anecdotes of the potential of success of adipose stem cell therapy for other inner ear disorders.

      https://www.tinnitustalk.com/threads/is-hyperacusis-permanent.24629/#post-284443

Someday (hopefully sooner rather than later) we may get actual published studies about adipose stem cell therapy for inner ear disorders, but for now we have some anecdotes, which can be quite informative in the absence of large scale formal studies, especially as we see more of them.

@lymebite. Thank you very much for that information. I did not see that article myself. The only worrisome thing is that the patient said that his hearing loss got stopped but not reversed. I wonder if he also had tinnitus alongside his hearing loss and meniere’s disease.

@Pleasure_Paulie. That is simply not true. There have been about 3-4 people on this board who have stated that it helped with their tinnitus. Again, the only caveat here is that those people all had auto-immune problems.

@Pleasure_Paulie i understand you have had a stem cell treatment in China right? And I also read that you have had your tinnitus because of acoustic trauma? Was there any element in the damage that came from ototoxic medications? That is what caused most of my recent problems.

That is correct. October 2016. Mine is most likely an acoustic damage as it started after being in a night club the next day and I was a musician for years.

While I did dabble in medications such as SSRI’s for years the time frames are much to far apart to make me consider any casual link between otoxixity and tinnitus in my case.

MSC is certainly not a silver bullet and certainly not on my case. Would it help you? Maybe, but there is no scientific data unfortunately to support that it will. I know what it feels like to be desperate though.. thus why I went through with treatment and blew $$$.

observations post stems (adipose derived) in May of this year.

      . no more spikes
      . significantly improved hyperacusis
. tinnitus more in the background (but unsure about this one because i've been sick and may be distracted)

      I'm sorry.

I've only just seen your post.

I don't live in Sydney. How did you do with the HBOT?

I had stems for joint pain so intra facet (cervical and hip) and IV.

ear pain and fullness was a probably at onset 5 years ago but not now.

      spikes have improved
tinnitus has backed off (habituating though)
      reactivity/hyperacusis improved

I had a consultation with an adipose stem cell clinic in Texas and they lost me when they said they could directly inject the stem cells into my blood and they would "find" the damaged tissue and repair it. The stem cells come from my own fat, so they're already in my blood. I spent two years of my undergraduate education in Anatomy and Physiology, and even going through cadavers, and there's just no way in hell stem cells are seeking out my damaged tissues in that manner. Maybe if they injected me every day for a month and all of my tissues were saturated with the stem cells so it could reach my endolymph, then maybe they could reach my damaged tissue in a high enough concentration to do whatever magic that they do, but I just don't see how that could work. There is one anecdote of it being a success on this forum and that could be confirmation bias or something else. Or it could be true. I reality, it can't hurt, but it is expensive. I just don't have any confidence in this whatsoever.

      Yup. China.
Mostly sales fluff from the consultant, but it’s believed they can reduce inflammation so seem to help with issues such as arthritis. I used to get RSI in my wrist and it’s gone since MSC.
The stem cells you would be injected with are not pluripotent (embryonic etc) so can’t become any type of cell and “repair”. They are not going into the cochlear and just magically going to become new hair cells or even have that capacity. Will that change in the future? I would think so, yes.
It’s impossible to know as tinnitus is a mystery. My hypothesis is that it may have the potential to assist with people’s who’s Tinnitus is not as a result of an ascoustic trauma or pharmaceutical ototoxcicty. In that the MSCs are assisting in other areas which resulted in the tinnitus initially. We just don’t honestly know :)

I believe so yes. I was a musician for years and it started the day after being in a club.
Not in my experience, no. I thought so initially but that’s likely a result of the corticosteroid injection to avoid rejection (not required if they are Adipose) of the MSC when the IV is inserted. Time was the greatest healer in that it causes me less anxiety now than it once did; it still does but it’s certainly has less impactful on my life.

On another note, I wish I could say for certain MSC would help you. Tinnitus makes you desperate so I totally get why people including myself try it! :)

You know the amount of MScs they used? 1 IV? How about LP? Intratympanic?

150 million. 3x IV treatments. No, not LP or Intratympanic.

I decided to get stem cells. Although I’m not just going for my tinnitus, reactive tinnitus, and hyperacusis. I’ve develooed a lot of other symptoms as well. Like floaters.

I don’t expect it to fix my tinnitus or my cochlear hair cells. I hope it reduces some damage in my brain that is evidently occurring.

I don’t think people go into it expecting it to regenerate hair cells. I’m going into it hoping it’ll do some damage control for my Brain
