After being mainly wary of the clippers at my local salon (which were actually fairly quiet), I was very surprised when I got hit in the ear canal a couple of times with the hair dryer air flow. Like any strong wind, it was like a roar in my ear and from what I can ascertain from hair dryer airspeeds and wind/decibel studies, it could have easily been a good 120 dB or more depending on speed of hair dryer.

I now regret not mentioning something and sticking my fingers in my ears after the first time. I haven't noticed any immediate spike in my hyperacusis or tinnitus, but at that volume I'm more concerned about hearing damage (however briefly--I flinched away as it happened!). I tested our own hair dryer when I got home which is not nearly as strong and it still clocked in at ~115 dB.

Anyone else been in a similar situation and lived to tell the tale?

Is your hyperacusis pain from noise, or noises sounding too loud?

i forget, I kept notes a while back.

Usually some people get better others don't, I have no idea why I got lucky.
