Cell Phones Causing Ear Burning and Worsening of Ear Problems

People think I’m a nut but I swear my cell phone hurts my ear. I can’t stand having it to my ear as my ear burns and my ear problems seem to get worse. I’m about ready to chuck the thing in the river.

 

How long have you had this?

This condition is called "pain hyperacusis"

It is extremely horrible to live with and in all likelihood means that your inner ear is damaged.

 

This is my third go around. First time was with a cold but that went away then next day. Two other times were likely caused by horrible surgeries to upper chest, neck and removed nerves.

I’ve never really liked the cell phone to my ear but since this, the pain my cell phone causes is noticeable.

I could friend of mine had her cellphone melt as it was to her ear. I can only imagine what damage they are really doing to our ears, bodies, brain.

I have the same but ( luckily ) no Pain.
Any ear device - landline phone, mobile phone, earbud, headphone will cause my T to 'react' and ramp-up. They call it H.
Use your phone on speaker its like 100% better.
Its all about getting by..

that is not the same condition as hyperacusis with pain, reactive tinnitus and pain hyperacusis are different.

Michael Leigh has never shown any evidence tha pain hyperacusis, loudness hyperacusis and reactive tinnitus to be the same thing. He has stated it many times but there is no evidence, I'll go as far as saying hearing loss, tinnitus and both forms of hyperacusis and TTTS all share pathologies but that's not exactly the same thing as throwing tinnitus with reactive properties and pain hyperacusis together.


It seems sound therapy is best at treating pain hyperacusis, and pain hyperacusis can get a lot better or go away entirely with pink noise therapy over the course of a year or too, but once again your P.H was caused surgery removing nerves?


Any operation around the head, face ear?

 

I use my phone on speaker now because i cant put it up to my ear. Even then I hold the phone right away from me and have it turned down when it is on speaker.

 

How long have you had this burnign pain, do you consider it disabling?

 

I dont have burning pain. I just do it so it doesnt make my tinnitus spike. I just find it more comfortable on speaker,

At the end of the day by baseline Hissssy T noise will 'ramp-up', 'spike' or 'react' to very certain external sounds.
Reactive Tinnitus seems like a perfect layman description to me.
Its simply a lay-mans way of describing what is actually happening

You are getting extremely high levels of radiation to the ear/head, you are not supposed to hold it to your head.

This is written in the legal section of an iPhone under settings:

thats not why this person has burning pain.

Okay, so there can’t be more than one contributor? It’s a fact that the radiation from a cell phone can heat up the ear/head and cause pain. And how do you know that this person has cochlear damage, just because he exhibits one of the symptoms associated ? Pretty narrow minded thinking in my opinion.

 

I only ever use speaker phone. I'm afraid of pressing a phone to my ear because a phone is what gave me tinnitus. If the phone is bothering you, stick with speaker phone only.

 

Your not a nut I've had this for years and think it's partly responsible for my Tinnitus. It's not just the cell phone its my cord free house phone as well. I only have to be on the phone for a couple on minutes and my ear starts getting hot and I get a burning sensation people think Im bonkers. Since we got WiFi all over the house six of us live in one quite small property I swear my Tinnitus has increased its 24/7 both ears loud as hell. No you are definitely not nuts I think 5G network will make things worse

I'm going to throw something else into the mix has anyone's T got worse and I mean extremely worse after an MRI scan. I had.a scan back in 2008 of my brain took 25mins then they injected me with a fluid to get a better image anotger 25mins. I've never had a headache so bad thought my head.was going to explode two and half.weeks later it finally subsided and since then my Tinnitus has.been.chronic.both ears 24/7. Any thoughts
