      Tinnitus Since:
      2018
      Cause of Tinnitus:
      Barotrauma + Car horn
I haven't seen this one addressed on Tinnitus Talk, so here goes.

      We know that
      (1) Prednisone is crucial for sensorineural hearing loss... and
      (2) Damage to hearing cells might predispose to tinnitus (and is possibly the cause of it)... but also
      (3) Prednisone may have no immediate effect on tinnitus in acute acoustic trauma, and
      (4) Prednisone might not be useful in Acoustic trauma without significant hearing loss...

However... the question nobody has answered yet, as far as I can tell..since hair cell damage correlates with tinnitus, can taking prednisone, for a serious acoustic trauma but without notable hearing loss, be protective months/years later of worsening tinnitus due to hair cell degradation? And is it worth the minute risk of ototoxicity (a rare issue but existing with prednisone)?
