Do you still have your original tone? The ring that first became permanent?

I don't. Mine evolved into a chime and electric type sound over the years from the original 'eeeeee' type of sound.

I had mine for 15 years. I habituated for the last 10 years, but the last few months it was gotten worse and I have 3 or 4 different sounds. Right now it sounds like drums and, I forgot what they are called, the brass disks are being beaten real loud! it's scary.

Sorry to hear that. You've habituated before, you can do it again.

Wow really? Drums? thats pretty severe and unusual. That sounds like stapedial or TT spasms, or maybe really bad pulsitile? Never heard of regular T like that.

Good question. I think I still hear mine, a pure 6kHz tone, on occasion, but it has morphed into a varietfy of sounds throughout the years.

My first T is a high frequency electric buzz, like an old TV and I still have it. This sound bothers me the least, it actually never bothers me. Unfortunately I have at least 3 other sounds with a later onset. My right ear is awful. I have tonal T in this ear with two different tones that don't go well together. One of these tones started out like a morse code, but is now just a constant tone.

There are many sounds associated with tinnitus I just have the one sound a high screeching sound like a trains brakes in an emergency stop. Horrible noise but I suppose there's worse.

Got a huge variety of buzzes, rings and hisses, fortunately seldom all at the same time!! Looking back I can't even remember what the original noise was, a hiss I think. I get an occasional musical tone, not particularly unpleasant but for some strange reason that's the one I really dislike and it really ramps up my anxiety when it comes for a visit, happily it's not too often and doesn't last long.

Edited to add.....originally I had T just in one ear and now it's both. When I first got T in just the one ear I was terrified I would get it in both, so it's interesting that I am now so much more accepting of my situation that for a while there I forgot that originally it was only the one ear. Guess I'm making progress :).

I have drums and so many other sounds I can't even count anymore and I've only had it for 10 months, so it's totally possible, awful but possible.

Cipro and Augmentin (which contains amoxicillin). Cirpo doubled the volume of my T and Augmentin doubled the volume on top of that.

@racerfish , did the antibiotics damage your hearing or just amplified your tinnitus?

I always thought augmentim was one of those antibiotics that were safe to take and wasn't ototoxic, right?
