      Just realized what the pounding in my right ear is, it's very rapid pulsing tinnitus.

      Concerned since it is about four times greater than my heartbeat.

      I have read some responses and need to visit my doctor.

      Is this a physical attribute or induced by some other cause?

      Always wise to see your doctor and a ENT referral if needed.
      Could be due to a few things.

      Hello Glynis, well it seems after I read several of the posts this morning after waking up with jackhammers going off in my right ear at 4:00am, I have found the solution. In July of this year I installed a jaw extender, as a preventive device against sleep apnea. Seems, as I know, this pushed my jaw forward and it appears to put pressure around the jaw muscle and thus the ear. After I spent time joining this Forum, away from using the device, the jackhammers went away. So I connected the dots.

      Zip-ardee-do-dah, Yippy-I-A. my-oh-my, its a wonderful day.

      Cheers, Horricks,

      @Horricks ,
      Great news if it was the jaw extender,
      your right that jaw joint pressure can cause and spike tinnitus.
      A Cappa machine could be an option for your sleep apnea.
      lovely to hear your doing better...
      I will be singing this now..
