      Been at the hospital all day as my mum is severely ill.

      The hospital has a fire and had to be evacuated so I have been pushing beds, wheelchairs, shower chairs etc helping walking patients out and we were all on the car park and with my mum in her bed and oxygen tank and critically ill patients.

      So glad everyone was safe.

      My ears got lots of blasting from fire alarms but patients had to come before my ears getting people out.

      Fantastic work by everyone.

      Glynis, that is awful, but yet again you show why you are such a wonderful person. I'm really sorry to hear about your mom, and I hope she is feeling ok. And you for that matter!

      This is the reason why I plan to never again leave home without a bag with Peltor earmuffs.

      I hope you won't have any damage.

      @glynis, what a nightmare. I hope everyone's ok and that no ones health has been comprised in any way. You've just got no luck have you? Having alarm bells ringing whilst you were trying to help evacuate people must have been a nightmare. But it just shows your character, putting others before yourself. I hope you and your mom are both doing ok after all of this.

      Are things getting back to normal now in the hospital?

      @glynis I've been to Stoke-on-Trent way back in 1975. It was during an English cultural college visit. I can remember walking around London at 2 am in the morning, but I will never forgot how beautiful your area is. My ancestry on my mother's side was in an area just North of where you are. My mother had a brother that married a resident of Stoke-on-Trent after World War II. I wasn't able to find him in a telephone book when I was there. I didn't have any other free time to search records. I'm not sure if he was stationed in England. His first name was Skip. You remind me of the memories of my mother - kind, thoughtful and caring.

      @Ed209,
      Thank goodness everyone was ok and back in hospital by 10.
      Was scary as we were on the third floor and corridors blocked with beds and all waiting for the lift ...n
      They were going try slide patients down on bed mattresses down the stairs but couldn't do it ....
      Was a nightmare thinking back.
