This might be a weird question, but since I'm 24 and not looking to waste my prime years, I'm intensely trying to treat my hyperacusis, even if it means moving to another country for the time needed.

So my question is, are there any clinics/hospitals/ENTs that are KNOWN for treating hyperacusis/tinnitus patients?

I'm based in Berlin, I wwent crying to the ER at a top hospital (Charité) and they flat out said they cannot help me.

I just don't think there is (that would actually work), it would be known by now. I truly believe that the Paul Fuchs lab is now in the right area to work out what's going on though, just a waiting game for that and the drugs in trial.

I wouldn't mind being put into a medically induced coma until it all happens though.

Some people benefit from pain killers. Or benzos.

Johns Hopkins seems to be the place to be.

Also is it not possible to be placed into a medically induced coma? Like euthanasia, being medically induced into a coma? It would be expensive as fuck I imagine but still.

I'm extremely on the fence about Benzos. A few like them, others say if your only option is suicide then go for them...

      What pain killers help though?

Some people benefit from anticonvulsants, opioids or tricyclic antidepressants.

I don't think so for a lot of medical, financial, and ethical reasons, also I'd hate to think you could still feel pain whilst in one. It did get me searching though. Here's a Quora thread https://www.quora.com/Can-you-opt-to-be-in-a-medically-induced-coma-without-a-medical-reason

I Liked this answer - 'So there is no need for a healthy person to be in an induced coma. Why would you want this?'

It's something that a person not going through constant pain just wouldn't understand, is it.

Yeah I don't think I'm going to just sift through all these and end up worsening things for me.

Yeah, it’s a personal decision. Personally I just deal with it most of the time but I’m a mild case. On my bad days, I sometimes take Phenibut. It really helps.

Yeah, luckily I don’t take it daily for that reason. But once or twice a week seems to be sustainable.

My plan would be to take one everytime I'm doing something social, meeting with a friend or something and the other days just suffer until it gets better lol.

What does Phenibut do for you?

It makes the burning pain go away and make my nervous system feel like it’s going at a normal rate. I only take it when the pain is really bad and I want to be social. It’s not like your 100% normal but it’s close enough. On Halloween for example, I was in the middle of a nasty spike and my entire face was on fire. I took Phenibut and within two hours (it’s slow acting), the burning sensations were gone. It was like my ears were able to process sound more normally again. I’m not the only one to report this either, I got the idea from other hyperacusis sufferers on Facebook.

It is very easy to get online and you don’t need a prescription. It’s a true miracle.

Any product that says Phenibut or does it have to be a specific brand? Can you send me a link on how yours looks like?

      This is a good one.

Please be advised though that you shouldn’t take it more than twice a week.
