      I am so stupid :/ .

I had a very itchy ear and ended up sticking a very sharp object into it.

I've been to see a nurse and she said my eardrum was shiny so not dameged.

I have a high pitched ringing sound in my right ear ,which is the one I stuck sharp object in. But the sound only happens when there is a noise.

I haven't slept at all these 7 days and am worried sick. I dont know what to do, the nurse said my ear usnt dameged so what is wrong with it??? Will this ever go away?

She also said there is sone soft wax at my inner ear so she told me to use olive oil ear drops which I started today.

Please help me I am going mad, I am so deppresed and cant live my life.
I also have a hissing sound in my head, that sometimes chages like a static TV sound.

I am using "Summer Night" sounds to sleep, it disguises the ringing so I can't tell if it's there or not. No other white noise has helped me. Focusing on your tinnitus could make it worse, but I notice if I can disguise mine it can get quieter. Don't play the noise too loud, just enough to make it so you can't hear your tinnitus.

Tell your doctor your ear is ringing still, it's important to schedule an appointment as soon as possible, if they can't tell you ask for an ENT referral.

As for the damage, I have no actual idea, mine was caused by an ear infection and I still haven't gotten to see a specialist. They are your best bet, however.

I wish mine only flares up if I hear noises. Mine rings constantly 24/7. gets louder with loud noises. You could try B complex vitamins. Magnesium zinc potassium gingko , lots water and no painkiller meds theyre ototoxic to the ears, no alcohol or smoking, lots of sleep. I use soft music to sleep or use nature sounds like rain or cricket noises. some people listen to tv or radio

Ask for presidnisone or cortiosteriod, theyre effective early <2-3weeks of onset

Sleep deprivation is one reason T can shoot up really loud. So try your very best to get good rest. If it is anxiety that is keeping you awake, and you can't control that by will power alone, perhaps get the doctor to prescribe something to help control the anxiety or even for the sleep.

If you don't want to depend on prescribed meds for sleep, you can try natural alternatives such as Camomile tea, Hops, Valerian tablets, Melatonin etc. Check out this site on using natural herbs for sleep problem:

      http://www.christopherhobbs.com/library/articles-on-herbs-and-health/herbs-and-natural-remedies-for-insomnia/

This TT thread is for newer T sufferers. Besides many great tips, it also has a link to a sleep thread. It also has many masking sounds to choose from. Masking is necessary for newer sufferers to provide a buffer between T and our panicky nerves. By using masking at bed time, on the go, and at work or at home, I managed to cut down on the usage of prescribed meds. So masking is a good idea. Here is the TT link. Check it out.

Try to use masking to help the bed time. A sound machine will do a good job. Some people use a fan. You can also try CD player with some nature sounds matching your T. Even ipod or smart phone using ear buds (set at reasonable volume) will help. If you have PC or laptop in your bedroom, you can play the masking sounds from the 'Don't panic' thread I mentioned above. Or search youtube for masking sounds and they have many rain & nature sounds too. Another option is this free sound generator called 'aire freshener'. Google it for a free download. Try drink a hot chamomile tea before bed time to calm your nerve. There are many things you can do to help yourself than panicking about T. Best wishes.

The TV sound will probably go away after a good sleep but it takes a wile later can return but can leave ofter overtime. You made it probably worse with freaking out.

You need to see expert medical advice. Given your history (which you should tell the doctor) it very much looks like something was damaged. A visual inspection of the tympanic membrane (not even by an ENT?) simply isn't enough to rule that out.
