      Hello guys!

I really want to go see a movie that's coming out in a couple weeks! It won't be imax movie but I just want to experience the movies again, aka also eat popcorn and pop! Who still goes to them? I would still wear ear plugs.

Sidenote: my aunt has tinnitus about two weeks before me and she goes to the movies still like its no big deal. She's got guts. Also I think she got hers from medication.

I love James Bond films and can get really loud but my house reduction plugs help so much and carnt wait to see another movie soon....lots of love glynis.

Just keep your plugs in and should be fine.

I go, it's fine. I don't usually wear plugs but feel free to bring a pair and have them handy.

Hi Jamie and all, I have gone to the movies as well. I do put in soft foam earplugs make sure that you insert them properly there's a video that you can watch on YouTube on how to properly install the. They will protect you down to 30 decible. FYI if you snack on anything the munching sound in your head will drown out the movie dialog so snack before or after. Enjoy and let us know how you did.

You seem confident, it should be fine. Enjoy your movie.

If you feel it's too loud at one point, you can always leave.

I dont know where you live, but here in Alberta there are two theater companies.. one is Cineplex and the other is Landmark Theaters... I much prefer Landmark, not only because they are cheaper, but because they have the volume at a much lower level. Cineplex is f'ing loud! Although, the last time I went there, it didnt affect my T.

I'd say go for it, but choose a theater that you perhaps know plays movies at a lower volume, and bring ear plugs just in case.

To @Sam Bridge: Buy filtered, or musicians, ear plugs. They let some sound in. I use them when I sing in choir.
But really, movies are so damn loud these days, you can easily hear dialogue with plugs in.

Also, something not mentioned here -- the trailers are MUCH louder than the film these days. I just step outside until the trailers are over.

Eh, I recently went to see Deadpool with no earplugs. Normally I can't stand loud noise, and DEADPOOL IS LOUD AS SHIT! Guns, explosions, screaming, and MORE GUNS! But, I just asked my friends if we could sit in the dead center of the theater so I wasn't too close to the speakers on the sides of the theater, and I was fine. No spike. I had a lot of fun! I wouldn't worry too much.

Loud scenes in movies don't usually last long enough to cause damage. Gunfights are maybe a few minutes long, tops.

Hi, @Jamie m: Depends on the movie and where you sit. But yeah, it should work. If you are worried, just take along a pair of those construction ear muffs like people who use power tools wear. You can buy them cheap in hardware stores, home improvement stores. You can wear them over the ear plugs at the movie, if you want. But I really don't think you will need them. You'll just have the comfort of knowing you have extra protection.

And @Sam Bridge: I wear my filtered plugs everywhere, not just at concerts. I have them in a little bag and they go everywhere I do. Come in very handy.

FYI, not to hijack this thread, but you know where I was last week that was blasted loud? On a large cruise ship! The show venues, the poolside bands and the ship-wide speaker system all blared at top volume. What in the heck is wrong with people, that they think these noise levels are ok? Fortunately, had brought several pairs of ear plugs and didn't hesitate to use them, so I was fine.

For movies with any kind of action in them, I bring plugs.
