Is Doxycycline Ototoxic and Capable of Causing Hyperacusis?

Is doxycycline ototoxic?

Can it cause hyperacusis?

 

Not really, it's one of the safest antibiotics to use.

The "mycins" are the antibiotics class to avoid. The worst of these is neomycin.

 

Forum threads have some anecdotal reports of people who had problems, others who didn't, others who did and it resolved. Might depend on dose? Doxycycline 100 mg? 200 mg? 400 mg?
