After a year it's gone. Just last night so far and it's 5:45 am and still gone. If I plug my ears MAYBE I hear something.

Usually I wake up in the middle of the night it's quite apparent unless my noise app is on.

I'm trying to think of anything different in my diet! Nothing comes to mind so far.

I know some people here have said T has gone away for a day and came back.

It's my birthday too :) lol I don't want to get too excited though. It's probably temporary

I'm happy so you don't have to create the 91th topic about how you barely hear your tinnitus, and only when you plug your ears, and how that drives you crazy!

Congratulations Marie! Peace out and happy birthday!

Glad to hear it @Marie79. I hope you are now happy and at peace; hopefully this will be permanent for you.

I will give you a word of warning however: I once posted on here about a near silent day that I experienced around 18 months ago. Unfortunately, in my case, sleep reset my mind and the following day was awful. That's the only time I ever experienced a reduction to that degree, and I have absolutely no idea why.

Because of the mild nature of your tinnitus, however, it's most likely gone. Everyone hears 'something' when they plug their ears. It's very much the old thing of hearing the sea in a seashell. The reality is that we just hear more internal sounds when we obstruct our ears.

      All the best.

      Marie,

I hope it ceased permanently for you! I know it can, it happened to me once before.

Happy birthday! Let's hope this might be the best birthday present ever.

Good to hear. Most likely the thalamic reticular nucleus in the brain has just changed it's mind and decided to filter out the unwanted noise as a birthday present. Totally possible that it's gone for good.

Hi, read some of your old posts, and was curious if you still take the xanax and if it is still working

Congrats! Usually happened eventually. One of the reason why Big Pharma is not all over T is because management and eventual habituation/resolution are present in the vast majority of cases. They are money-driven unfortunately, and they have their eyes on other things. Leave us sitting here until it happens to us!

i disagree....ask anybody that has habituated if there was a cure would they take it and i would guarantee not one would say no. The problem is awareness and the complexity of what tinnitus is. Its caused by multiple things and is different for each person. It is also related to the brain which we still do not have a full understanding of yet. In my opinion it wont be a drug that cures T. It will either be vagus nerve stimulation (which has already worked on mice), an operation on the brain, or using stem cells to regenerate the damaged hair cells. Hopefully we wont have to wait much longer
