Low Frequency Added to My Orchestra

I was actually doing fine as far as I could but now a new sound emerged from the depts into ears.

It is a low frequency sound that is taking me back to square one.

The only things I did was wearing my earmuffs because I had to use my copying machine that is rather noisy so I was thinking I'd rather be safe than sorry. After I was done I noticed a low buzzing sound and later that day I found it again, now it won't leave me alone.

So why did this happen? Is it due to the earmuffs or is it something else? Does this mean that I won't have any chance to recover in the future?

I also notice that if I shake my head fast, or turn it around fast, then the buzzing sound disappears during the movement but it comes back right after.

 

Could anyone try to explain?

Sorry to bump this so many times but I'm trying to seek for answers. I've been protecting my ears for very loud noises while I'm trying to let in normal day to day sounds. My high pitched T does not spike that hard anymore and at the same time I got this buzzing sound. It's in my right ear until it decides to spike.

I have T for 2 months now and this new sound is here since last saturday (so 5 days now).

Is this a bad sign for any potential recovery?

 

I'm not sure about the cause but it almost seems that the T likes to mess with people. After years then it got very loud but extremely high pitched in one ear which matched a HF hearing loss. About a week ago the tone got slightly lower making it even more noticeable. Don't know why except wondering if I have more hearing loss in that ear.

 

Thanks for your reply @light rain. I'm trying to find out what I did wrong so that is messing me up.

My right ear, with the new buzz, is also the ear that had some fleeting T. Where I lose my hearing for a second and then a tone comes up and fades eventually. I had one 20 minutes ago again only in my right ear, this time the tone faded in 30 seconds instead of a day. My buzzing sound was there when it happened and it didn't disappear and it didn't spike.

So I'm left in the dark here and it is scaring me.

Have you seen an ENT at all? I'm in the middle of the testing (just waiting to get MRI done) and have spent a lot of time wondering and researching. Never knew how complex the auditory system is and how much they don't know.

I didn't have loud noise exposure but even for those that do others around them can be fine. So maybe don't look at it as doing something wrong. I have dizziness too so I am looking for triggers for that also.

I think trying to get a hold on anxiety -which makes nothing better - is probably more helpful than we think it can be. I've been battling it and feel better when I can focus on something else. Not easy by any means.

Yes I went to an ENT and 5 days later I got the extra sound. He couldn't really find an answer and he said that most of the time there is none. But he was positive and so was I, untill I got that low buzzing sound 5 days later. It amps up when I'm nerveous but often it lingers in the background and sometimes its not there at all even though it is rare.

It came to me om a day that was stressful and I didn't sleep well. I also had my earplugs in for the copying machine because I had to copy a lot. And I had some fleeting spikes during that time. You tell me what went wrong, cause I don't know.

In the meantime I'll try to relax even though it is difficult

 

Nobody knows why we get extra or louder sounds... Stress could be a huge factor. But still, it could be something else. Goodluck and hopefully you it won't bother you too much

I've got new tones too since onset.... one recently that's only audible in a quiet room and when my regular tinnitus is low.
I don't know why, but I just couldn't care less about it.... if it was loud though, that would be a whole different story.
Nothing surprises me with tinnitus.
It's all how we deal with it.
Your tinnitus is new. In the first few months that I had tinnitus, I even had days when it would go away completely.
It seems to have "settled" in that it's more consistent and fluctuates less than the early days.

@Samantha R how do you deal with the noise when your baby screams? I am just having a drink in a pub and i sat down where there was a couple with a baby, a couple of minutes later and the baby started squealing. Luckily they left soon over. Made me feel anxious, not sure how i would cope if i decided to have kids.

Good question! I actually have three young children - my son is 2.5 years old and my twins are 11 months.
Over the last three months, the twins would scream at me when I was feeding them their meals - I had to wear ear muffs as it was so full on and loud.
My twin boy was just screaming for no reason at random times, but you've just got to accept it and get on with it. I don't think screams every now and then are going to do more damage, and I practically I can't protect my ears all the time.
If they are upset and need comforting, I obviously don't hold them close to my ear... I find a dummy then grab them and kind of hold them so their mouths are against my body so I kind of muffle their cries! It's so ridiculous that I have to worry about my ears and can't immediately comfort my baby, but that's the way I have to do it to minimise the noise.
Thankfully, the twins have just grown out of the screaming at meal times (now they feed themselves more so maybe that's why), but they do yell and get upset when I'm changing their nappies and dressing them.... I've developed strategies like singing to them when changing them to distract them, and it works.
My toddler has kind of worked out that I don't like the screaming and every now and then he screams at me just to push my buttons.
Gotta stay cool and in control even though I definitely don't like the loud noise.
If it gets too much, I just walk out of the room and wait for the chaos to subside or hand over to my husband!

 

The low tone is just like the rest of my T. It comes, it goes, sometimes its a muffled sound and sometimes its a clear sound. Is that a good sign or does it not matter?

 

For me it used to come and go, and as of a couple of months ago, it has decided to stay.

 

I think it could just be a natural progression of your T. Initially I had only a high-pitch tone. Then all of a sudden it sometimes started to change into a hiss. The fact that it is changing is very likely a good sign. Many people on this site whose T had improved report that it began with it changing.

 

Bill: I see that you signed off and probably went to bed, but I'm so glad for you. When I got T six years ago, my high pitch became a hiss, but it took some time. It was somewhat still loud, but I was able to go on with my life. Now with new added T, it's very loud with a very high pitch.

About 10 minutes ago, I accidently twisted my neck that has hurt since going to the dentist. The T lowered in my left ear and a little in my right ear. That lasted all of five minutes. So I trying to stop grinding my teeth and I probably should see an upper cervical specialist. Some although end up in worse shape. I'm just wishing that I can get back to baseline with a high hiss. This high pitch is like a fire alarm. When I go to bed, my ears are worn out and hurting. I can't get to sleep until daylight. I'm very happy for you, Bill. Some others that I had a private conversation with, recently had their T disappear.

 

Get used to it tinnitus us a monster that pops up when and where it pleases. You can't control it, you can't reason with itn it's the boss. The sooner you understand this the sooner you can learn to fight back. Good luck

 

Let's hope so. Each of my individual sounds sometimes sound empty or more of a hiss but they take turns, and very rarely everything hisses even if it is for only half an hour or 20 minutes. Some, even though not many, sounds have gone away and haven't come back.

 

I was also wondering if someone could answer the next question. My new T sounds like a buzz, it wobbles a bit (no specific rhythm) but it does not pulsate up and down. It is in such a frequency or db that I can't hear it outside. I also can't hear it when I plug my fingers in my ears which worries me that it might be something else than normal T. The tone does change in volume, sometimes it is non-existent or so low in volume that I can't hear it (not for long though) while sometimes I can hear it under my laptop fan and one time it was buzzing really loud in both ears when I woke up at night. Another time I had a spike in my right ear with both low and high.

So is this normal T, like a frequency. Or is this vascular T? How can I know the difference?

 

Understanding Tinnitus is something I guess none can do. My low buzz sometimes spikes but I have no clue why.

Today I had to pick up some stuff in a big city. As I was walking along the streets I heard sirens going off from a firetruck. My first thought was F!!! How can this be possible, not now. I looked left, then right, no streets I could dive into. I was hoping the fire truck wouldn't come my way, it aproached an interjection with 3 directions so a 50% chance that it would come my way. I was crossing my fingers, but soon it came my way and it was loud. So I gently pressed my ears and then firmly as it approached. Next the truck was blazing my way and I felt like I was standing on the tracks with a train approaching me. Soon after it passed, I let go of my ears but I heard no difference.

Nothing.

Not spike, no discomfort and no stress. My ears haven't spiked today. My T is still the same but it was a big hurdle and small victory for me.

I'm also using sound enrichment at night (open windows) and it helps me sleep aswell. I'm saying this especially for Michael who is my spirit guide up here. I did however make sure to give my ears a break as soon as I got home. Balance is where it's at.

 

After reading about incidents like this, I decided to always carry my Peltor earmuffs with me, wherever I go.

I realize that your incident did not lead to a spike, but hearing sirens and fire alarms caused spikes for many others.

 

I might have not been so active on this forum but you all and Tinnitus are still on my mind. Even though my high pitched T is still screaming and I lost my anxiety to it the last time I posted here (29 of august). That time my low pitched hum was still blazing.

But, since its start in the mid of may, the sound originated in my right ear and was pulsating, next week it was pulsating and at the end of the day constant. Then it only became worse and it was so loud that I heard it under my TV, outside and if I was on my laptop. In the months I struggled really hard but I did have some improvements in July (roughly 2 months after the start of the low hum) because the sound switched from pulsating in right to constant in both, might not seem like much but I'd rather have it constant and in both ears. Then the sound seemed like it was going lower. Unfortunately mid august the volume went back to its max so I thought that it wouldn't get better. Now 3 weeks later the sound decreased in volume so that I couldn't hear it when my laptop was one and the last few days the sound disappears completely for long momens (4 hours a day) and only comes back in very low volume at certain moments.

Now it might be a long and confusing story but nevertheless I'm glad that this sound is ridding itself from my life (knock on wood) after 4 months. What I did was letting T-stress go and I ate 2 pieces of fruit every single day since the start of august. So I'm glad to report good news once for a change, especially for others who recently recieved a humming sound.
