      Hello everyone

Just wanted your advice. I have got tinnitus since two years now. And due to that I find it difficult to engage with someone. Is it true that wedding life is much affected by tinnitus??? Is it true that sex makes the sound worse?? Would you have accepted to engage with someone knowing that you have this problem...

      Kind regards
      Dilshaad

You do take precautions, but you still have to live too. Protect your ears, communicate your fears/concerns and find a middle ground and move forward.......

It is unlikely. However, different people experience tinnitus differently, so there is only one way for you to find out whether this happens to be Your trigger.

Tinnitus might be affected if the wedding is a loud one.

If by wedding life you mean marriage, it depends on the individual you marry. My wife is very understanding about my tinnitus and how it affects me at times. What helps is the fact that she herself has it.
I wouldn't necessarily say that sex makes tinnitus worse but tinnitus may affect your sex life just as it may affect other aspects of your life if you let it. The secret is to meet the right person for you. Good question and good luck.

Thank you all for your advice. I am thinking that on one side i dont want to be unfair to someone.... by putting this burden on them.. on another side i think why miss out ...why forget about all the good marriage can bring... juat because of tinnitus...which we might hope to get a cure in some years...

If thought differently .... if i were left with few days to live... then i would have loved to spend it hugging loving my loved one than worrying about tinnitus... just thinking loud

I met my wife after developing Tinnitus. Your whole life don't need to be only about Tinnitus. You can take precautions and in time she will learn what's going on with you, but Tinnitus by itself shouldn't deter you from getting married.

When I was single and just a couple of months into Tinnitus, I would set dates in places I knew wouldn't get very loud. I would call beforehand to make sure I got a quiet table, I wouldn't go to places with live music and so on. You can make it work.

There's so much that you can offer, when we're suffering and desperate we tend to think that Tinnitus makes us useless. Challenge yourself and I bet you won't regret. ;)

Your life doesnt have to stop, you just need to make certain adjustments to fit in with your T.
I’m sure when you meet the right person they will be more than happy to make a fanstaic life with you regardless of having T.

If your tinnitus has a blood pressure related component, then possibly yes. Just play some bassy 70s soft funk and you won't know if you're coming or going. Alternatively, think of the tinnitus as a crescendo of violins...

Don't let it take that from you like I let it take it from me. Things can happen down the track that can make tinnitus seem second worse, I promise you, and you will regret then the things that you allowed tinnitus to control.

I would change a job if it were to expose me to noise. I doubt reducing stress will make a big difference.

My fiancé proposed a few weeks after I developed tinnitus and he is very understanding, I'm very lucky. We are having a small quiet wedding and we are both happy with that. Don't let tinnitus stop you from getting married, however I do suggest a quiet wedding!

Sex is fine, it's a good distraction.

Or if your spouse makes it an issue.
