      My wife seems to think my tinnitus spikes when the moon is full. It may as I haven't been really keeping track of my spikes. I get miserable and depressed and am not really sure of what is going on around me. Hard enough for me to stay on task.

      Anyhow, has anyone else noticed if their tinnitus spikes during a full moon?

      Here comes the full moon in a couple of days . Last few days my T has been getting louder and louder. Maybe a coincidence.

      I’m on my second day of a particularly bad spike that was not caused by anything I’m aware of. In fact, I woke up Saturday morning perfectly fine, then it slowly started getting worse and is still going. Did actually notice the full moon lastnight. Interesting people think there’s a correlation rather than coincidence.

      For me all this werewolf talk isn’t especially helpful or humorous. My tinnitus gets very loud for several days around EVERY full moon. I began noticing the connection years ago. It’s 100% consistent. If the moon makes tides rise, why can’t it subtly affect the fluid pressure in our brains, which are mostly water? Whatever the mechanism, my only recourse is waiting it out.

      @Huguette ,
      I'm sure it could as weather alone and pressure can spike tinnitus...
      We occasionally let our humour side out so please accept our apologies as we do take tinnitus and Hyperacusis seriously ....

      We all need some humor. To be honest I was feeling notably grumpy when I wrote that because there’s a full moon right now over Nova Scotia where I live and my ears have been ringing “at the top of their lungs” for several days to the point where I find it hard to concentrate. I went to a very quiet place in nature today for several hours and found it very peaceful and calming. In addition to the moon, I find when my stress is higher, the tinnitus also consistently gets louder. That suggests to me some relationship with elivated cortisol. Quiet time in nature definitely helps. Thank you for supporting my contention that a full moon can aggravate at least some kinds of tinnitus. I was told by a neurologist that mine is due to a problem in my brain. Nothing could be found wrong with my hearing (except when the internal volume starts drowning out voices and tv!)

      Just seen this thread, screeching tinnitus and full on wobbles all day, been keeping a diary recently of the tinnitus and the wobbles, back tracked to last month and the same occurred with the full moon, didn’t even realise it was today, so although I find it weird and unnerving it seems the full moon definitely makes my symptoms worse ( yes I’ve thought of all the werewolves etc but this is distressing) in general there is no rhyme or reason for my screeching and wobbles, can be sunny and screeching and rainy and only 7/10 volume, it’s got me beat for sure! Have seen ent regarding the illness, so far my diagnosis have been Labyrinthitis then Ménière’s then Vestibular migraine then MdDS and now PPPD and visual vertigo! Ent have been spectacularly useless in my case.

      Wow, according to the polls, most people do not get spikes during full moons. Mine is really flaring up today, and was last night as well - seriously loud sizzling / thousands of swarming insects. It may just be a coincidence, but when my father said, "hey look at the full moon tonight" and I was complaining about my tinnitus, I put 2 and 2 together and realized that may be the reason. I'm one of those people who is convinced that there is always a reason for a tinnitus spike. So it's necessary to monitor the situation. Changing weather patterns, blood pressure, etc.

      I too am convinced it goes up with the full moon, I didn’t actually know the date of this one, mine has been off the scale for a few days but I’ve been taking an ototoxic antibiotic, I can’t get my doctor to change it, so put the extra volume down to that, then just happened to see the full moon is nigh, no chance for me this week then!

      Hi @Joanne Philps -- Just because a doctor tells us to do something (especially if it's harming us), doesn't mean we have to do it. I would seriously consider stopping that antibiotic immediately. -- You may want to consider doing on online search for natural ways to treat your health issue. You may even come up with a more effective treatment plan. -- Best...

      Lane, I should have added the antibiotic was for a persistent uti, nothing to do with my screeching, however after wasting a month on the particular one, the lab report confirmed I should not be taking that one, so it’s been changed to another one which is at least working for the bladder pain, I’m waiting for a urology appointment since February this year but obviously with the corona virus it won’t happen anytime soon! And a super moon on the 8th of April my screeching will be up and the Rice Krispie ears continue

      Actually it's a scientific fact that the moon kills hair cells in the cochlea. Basically when the sun shines on earth radiation from the sun is filtered out, but when it is reflected off of the moon, it's not filtered due to the hytrophic effect of planet magnetism. Most people won't be affected by this, but people with already damaged ears are vulnerable to gamma b rays. I read this in a scientific journal. Trust me.
