      Tinnitus Since:
      2004
      Cause of Tinnitus:
      Meniere's Disease
My tinnitus has been going nuts 24/7 for a long time now due to Meniere's but the wooshing on top I'm sure is vascular tinnitus or pulsatile.

I'm due to see ENT soon for my nose so will ask them if they can check it also.

      Ears playing silly monkeys.

What is the difference between pulsatile and vascular tinnitus? Is there a diagnostic test they can do for you?

Good luck with your tests, Glynis. I hope your doctor will be able to determine a cause. Hopefully, it will settle down soon

And, I don't think there is a difference between vascular and pulsatile tinnitus. They are one and the same, as far as I know.

Best wishes, and please keep us posted on how you're doing.

      Hello, Glynis.

Pulsatile means something in time with Your heartbeat. It can be vascular, but also nonvascular (anaemia, thyroid disease, eustachian tube disunction). Vascular can be arterious or venous or arteriovenous. You should undergo carotid doppler sonography and MRI + MRA - very important test in vascular PT. I suffer from PT since may this year and I always feel it vibrating with each "thud". Important is also the type of sound and Your doc should listen to your neck and head to find out if it is obejective or subjective. T
