seven years of shaking vision and loud noise in my ear driving me insane and only three months after getting my TMJ splint this hell is almost completely gone. I'm not saying everyone with T needs a TMJ splint. Obviously T is caused by many different things. But I must say I'm one of the lucky ones then! Scans showed my skull was deformed, not by trauma as I had once thought but from birth. A great doctor had a porcelain splint made for my mouth. It looks hideous! I do not care!!! I didn't know if it would have any affect at all on my symptoms but if nothing else I hoped it would enable me to eat properly.

Well my Geiger counter in my left ear that used to be loud enough to drown out speech and my vision that would jump and twist exactly in time with the stupid noise IS ALMOST COMPLETELY GONE. I can go a couple or even three days without any symptoms or when I do get them it's for up to five seconds, much quieter and my vision no longer bounces around so violently that I want to throw up. And if not days, I go for hours between these episodes which last merely seconds now.

It barely bothers me at all. If this is as good as it gets I'm over the moon.

Anyone considering a TMJ splint - investigate it with a good TMJ specialist and see if it might be the answer for you.

Congrats!!! I had a repositioning splint made then it was a flat plane splint but I'm afraid it's going to make things worse...may I ask if you had any jaw noises?(crunching,clicking,ect...)also what kind of a splint you have??and what kind of dentist you seen?also do you have to wear it 24/7? Is there any way you can post a pic of your splint?how long have you been wearing it? Thank you and sorry for so many questions!!!!

Both ears I think but right ear doesn't bother me. Quiet and I would never notice it unless I listen carefully. Left ear has loud click, also humming and hiss. The click is bothersome as it shakes my vision around.
I wear the splint all night and all day. I saw the top TMJ guy in this part of the world. I'm in New Zealand. image.jpeg
      My splint is porcelain

I'm still improving every day but if I improved no more than this I'm still over the moon. Barely hear the click any longer and when I do my vision is often unaffected at all and the noise is so quiet. When it does shake my vision it's only mildly and it doesn't bother me.

Great news! First time I've heard of a porcelain splint. I would travel to New Zealand if I thought this could help me. Since all my issues are tmjd that is my goal now to find help..It's the only chance I have..my pain is so becoming intolerable along with my H and T symptoms.. (H flares) Thanks for posting. .

      p.s interesting profile name haha

My doc said my jaw was all messed up but thought the issue to address was fluid. He maid a splint I get just to stop my clenching. I asked for a repositioning splint but he said I needed to reduce my inflammation first, so the night guard wad is just for that. He said after perhaps metal braces.
