      Hi all!

So, I just went got back from the doctors (just a family doctor) and I feel a little.. stuck. So, when I first noticed my tinnitus was back (early March 2017), I saw a doctor (again, another family doc) and he said the ringing was due to the fluid in my ears (ETD), it was nothing permanent and sent me on my way. At the time I was delighted! But a day later, I was looking up symptoms and I didn't have ANY of them. That's when I went through the motions of my worries.

So like I said, I went to the doctors again today with a different doctor. She looked in my ears and said there was no more fluid. This sent me into some worrisome, but I continued to listen. She said there was no damage to my ear drum (yay?) and told me that the ringing should go away. She didn't think she needed to refer me to a specialist. She said wait three months, and then send me to one (My ringing is pretty minimal considering from what I read on here. I don't hear T (usually) when I'm out of my house, it's usually easy to ignore when I play some music or background noise. And when people talk to me I can tune it out. I have no trouble sleeping when I turn on a fan. The fan isn't that loud of one either. But I do take melatonin and drink sleepytime tea because I don't want to risk sleep being an issue. I'd probably rate it like a 2 or a 3 out of 10).

Now, I totally believe she knew what she was talking about. She didn't seem concern enough about it to send me to a specialist immediately. She said she could if I wanted to, but as of right now, I said no. But now I'm wondering, can I trust her? The other doctor was wrong, so she could be too? I'm just a little nervous. What would you guys do!?

Tinnitus can start for a few reasons and the majority of people habituate to their tinnitus over 6 months or it goes away so unless you have other symptoms its best to give it time as time is a great healer.

The advice @glynis has given you is correct. Click on the links below and read the articles that I have written about tinnitus as you might find them helpful. Try to read them in full and not skip through them, particularly: Tinnitus, A Personal View. I advise you not to listen to music through headphones even at low volume.
      All the best

Get a new doctor. Your GP doctor will make a diagnosis based on very limited information. You need to find out what's causing the tinnitus you have. You could end up with permanent tinnitus if the issue isn't fixed.

You have ETD and all the doctor did was tell you that you have ETD? No H-blockers or grommet? Totally useless.

I told my doctor my history and she said it should be temporary but to give it a few months. I'm pretty sure my tinnitus was noise induced, which means they can't really do anything anyways? Right?

Pretty much. He gave me some antibiotics because he said the fluid was cloudy but that was all.

@alyssalee97 they could potentially give you prednisone if it is nosie induced but the best thing you can do is rest your ears for the next few months. Manage your anxiety and try not to focus on the ringing sound. It may be helpful to sleep with a fan/White nosie machine on. You have good chances that it will resolve if you protect your ears!
