I have never heard of nor know an explanation for how this occurred and believe it is just coincidence.

Which part did they actually touch? (the pinna? inside the canal? where?)
I seriously doubt that touching your pinna resulted in T coming back. I'm not saying it didn't happen, but I can't picture any causality.

      Did they slap your ear?

      Was it loud?

I believe you. I touched my own ear the other day and loud tinnitus immediately started.
      Trying a explanation.....
Maybe the vacuum created acted like a suction cup, the ear drum began to vibrate?

There is no vacuum created or pressurization happening when you touch your ear (unless you stick something in the ear canal to the point of sealing it shut).

There is no need for perfect vacuum, just pressing the pinna and releasing creates a vibration, sometimes. I remember a case when someone who participated in am-101 got her tinnitus after being kissed in the ear, and i do not think there was "acoustic trauma" there.

I should have been more careful and not use the strong word "vacuum".
Vacuum means "zero molecules". Of course i was not saying that, because of toucbing the ear with the towel, all the molecules magically disappeared.
I should not have used the word "vacuum".

I remember at least one (possibly two) people who posted here about developing T after being kissed on the ear...

No a vacuum or suction is still necessary. A kiss to the pinna will not cause suction, a kiss that covers the ear canal opening can cause suction. The suction then pulls on the ear drum. Simply touching the pinna will not do that.

There are countless articles explaining this, here are just a small sample:

I wouldn't be so sure, kiss sounds can be extremely loud when they happen close to the ear (even without any direct contact with the ear).

I've become my daughter's protector when it comes to hearing, as many family members want to express their love with kisses... by/on the ear... and I tell them they have to do it on the forehead.
