      Noise-Induced Hearing Loss
I was horrified yesterday when I went to the doctor about my tinnitus. I mentioned it was due to going to too many heavy metal concerts. There was a medical student in the room shadowing the doctor. Using a mocking tone, he explained that he doubted the reason the metal concerts were the reason for my noise-induced hearing loss. He said " You got damage from metal concerts? But ears are very resilient!". Incredulous, I said, "Do you even realize how many decibels come out of those speakers? For 3 to 4 hours? I was standing directly in front of them in some of these concerts!" He obviously wasn't buying it.

Unreal that even a medical student at the doctor's office, shadowing the doctor, has no clue what kind of damage we are doing to ourselves.
