Just got my Mabis Inhaler today and tried it with Lavender and Patchouli essential oils. It seems to have lowered my tinnitus a lot. However, I've recently started taking Apple Cider Vinegar with Turmeric and that has helped as well. I'm fairly sure mine is related to fluid in the Eustachian tubes.

Just passing this on along with my experience.

Thanks. I've got issues with my right eardrum, I've been told to use a steamer. Will pick one up.

You're welcome. I like the Mabis because it has an aromatherapy tank, most of the others do not. I've been reading that certain essential oils such as Lavender, Patchoulli, and Helycium (sp) have helped a lot with tinnitus. I've only used it once with Patchouli and Lavender, and my head seems a lot clearer...

How much would you say it lowers it?

Right now I'm running about 2 out of a scale of 10... Like I said though, I really noticed a big drop last nite after mixing tummeric in with my Apple Cider Vinegar Drink, I had 3 glasses yesterday. I really can't attribute the steamer to lowering it a lot because I've only used it once, but it definitly helped clear the Eustachian Tubes and made my head feel clearer.

What exactly are you doing with the apple cidar vinegar? Are you drinking it straight? Are you also taking the tummeric pills or is there another form? Sorry not the most familiar with this but have seen some people have got some relief. Thanks

Yes drink it. I mix 2 1/2 teaspoons in 8 ounces of water, add honey to taste, and add powdered tummeric, about 1/2 teaspoon. I drink it 3 times a day. Never drink it straight, it's much too acidic that way. The tummeric pills are supposed to be more concentrated, but we have a big bottle of it that we bought a Costco some time ago. May try the pills after it's gone, if ever. :)

Also, on the Apple Cider Vinegar make sure it says "Mother" on the label. The filtered stuff will not work. Best known brand is Bragg, but there are others.

Been using the steamer a few times this weekend and I think I can attribute it to lowering my tinnitus somewhat. I did a follow-up tympanometry test on Wednesday and I still have ETD on my right side. I will use this for a few weeks and go back to see if it's improved.

Great! Keep us posted. Mine is down to a low hiss, and it's not constant, only in the left ear. I think the combo of things I've been doing are helping for sure.

I'm happy for you! Will it work with just plain steam or do you have to use the essential oils? Also, have you tried the Eustachi Eustachian Tube Exerciser? If so, did that seem to help with your tinnitus?

Is there a way to aim your face to the steam inhaler so it reaches the eustachian tube? Or does it not matter?

Hi Jason. Glynis on here uses one with just steam, and it will help for sure. I decided to get one with the aromatherapy tank as I read that certain oils are good for Tinnitus and ETD issues. The oils I use are Patchouli, Lavender, Eucalyptis, and Tea Tree. I've researched the Eustachi, but will hold off for now. Mine seem to be clearing. As for the T. it's sporadic. Good one day, comes back the next. This has been the trend for the last week or so.

Good question. I generally do the Vasala or one of it's derivitatives to open the tubes before I start, and a couple of times during the steaming.

Question about Apple Cider Vinegar and the tumeric - how do you drink this crap? Could I not blend this into some sort of shake or use it in cooking? This is SO acidic.

Actually I have cut out the tumeric, Doc says it can lead to dizziness. I'm not sure if you can add it to a shake, you could defintly use it in cooking, but not sure if it's effect would be the same. I don't find it too bad, but it's recommended that you drink it through a stray as it can affect tooth enamel. How much did you try in 8 ounces of water? You should only add about two teaspooons. I also flavour with honey.

I had one tablespoon straight and that's it! I had no idea how acidic it would be!

Yikes, you should never take it straight, it has to be diluted. You have a real chance of causing burn, and damage to your esophogus by taking it straight.

ACV is one of the best anti fungal/anti bacterial natural agents there is. It helps in eliminating nasty stuff in the eustachian tubes, inner ear, etc. At least that is the theory, but I don't know of any scientific studies behind it. Makes no difference to me, I'll try anything within reason that makes me feel better, and so far it seems to....
