I was diagnosed with Sudden sensorineural hearing loss (SSHL) on my left ear about a month back. Just like others I went through steroids (prednisone and the in-ear injection), I was able to regain my hearing back (thanks to God and family member prayers),however I still have the tinnitus and finding it difficult to handle just like others. Even though my audio tests claim I got my hearing, I still find it annoying in noisy places.

My ENT had recommended to see an otology/neurotology specialist for second opinion. Not sure if that would be of any help?

      I am looking for suggestions...

Should I give another 2 months to see if my EAR recovers before I go for any further treatments/opinions?

Is there anything I can do to improve in the next two months (eg: diet, vitamin, etc?)?
Should I keep my left ear always protected?

I have made my mind to habituate to tinnitus, however everyday I still get depressed on how I am going to handle this life long. Like others I also wish there is some hope for us all in near future.

How much hearing did you recover?
Did the injection reduce your tinnitus at all?

Anything that restores hearing should help tinnitus
I am using a cochlear implant as an example

Your tinnitus should get better, maybe not completely go away as with current technology there is no way to completely restore hearing after SSNHL. Complex backgroundnoise and frequencies above 8k are not tested in standard hearing test.

Keep us updated on your case for the next two months please.

      Hi, and welcome.

I'm very glad that you got your hearing back. I would give it a month or two, and see how it's doing before seeking another opinion about the tinnitus.

There is no evidence that certain diets or vitamins can reduce or eliminate tinnitus. Wearing ear protection, when in loud environments, is a must, but not all the time unless there's a reason from your doctor, which is unlikely but it never hurts to ask him or her.

If your hearing is back, your T ought to eventually begin to fade.

The hearing improved from Severe to Moderate to normal. I would like to get another audio test done in one month to make sure if it stays the same.

I don't feel the T when I am in quiet room with Fan running, but the moment I come out I feel the pressure. Hope it fades away

I will provide updates on my progress.
