A spike is when you suddenly only hear louder ringing from one ear right?
I just had one this morning and I still have no clue why.

No, this is not necessarily true.
Some people spike in both ears, or if they are like me and hear their tinnitus in their head, then the spike may be in the head.
Don't confuse a spike (which usually occurs for a somewhat prolonged period of time) to fleeting tinnitus which lasts for a few seconds to a few minutes.
I get a lot of episodes of fleeting tinnitus now, maybe I did before but didn't notice them prior to my onset of chronic tinnitus.

Thanks so much! I have a concert today so I'm gonna bring my earplugs!
Thanks for clarifying. It just happens out of the blue for some reason and then goes away. Thanks!
