      Hi there.

I recently just joined this forum as there’s a few things I’d like to get off my chest and see if others experience similar things as me.

The title says it all...after cleaning out my PC with a compressed air unit last weekend, it seems as though my tinnitus has gotten much worse.

It is bearable at some times of the day but for the most part when I’m around electronics e.g. my desktop computer, the tinnitus becomes extremely irritating and it absolutely has been driving me insane.

I’ve also noticed that the high pitched ringing is considerably worse in my room specifically. Where as in the lounge room or in a more open area such as the kitchen it’s just hissing.

I’ve been a musician for many years and leading up to my teens I didn’t consider wearing protection until around 16 years of age. (I’m 21 now.) I try to still wear earplugs where I can but I feel as if earmuffs work better for me. Because the pressure from jamming earplugs into my ears can sometimes make things painful.

I’ve tried listening to tinnitus masking therapy audio on YouTube, and while that helps immensely, it only works when I’m listening to it.

Hopefully others can relate...I’d love to hear some feedback. Thanks :)

Yup, definitely the same for me.

Bathroom and toilet are the worse for hearing it. Like you it seems worse for me near the computer. The living room is not to bad.

I dont know if it actually gets louder, or its just an expectation we have for different rooms.

      All the best!

Probably a mix of ETD and TMJ
Isn't it maybe just a sound in the room? I have the same thing. Tinnitus seems to be the loudest in my living room, but I'm suspecting that's my fridge and router maybe making some weird mixture of noise that makes it seem like my tinnitus is amplified

I get pulsatile tinnitus only in one house. I don't get it anywhere else which is so odd.

Does anyone know why one place sets it off and others don't?

I have this issue. It started in our bedroom. It's not like I notice my tinnitus more in that room, its that it gets worse in there .. much much worse until its screaming. So I don't sleep in there anymore, I sleep on a mattress in the lounge room. I was also getting a prickly feeling in my scalp when I stayed in there for a while. I also get tinnitus if I stand in front of the microwave oven while heating something up.

It all started about 6 months ago when the pine forest was cut next to our house exposing a cell radio tower about 100meters away. At first I didn't make the connection but it really seems like that has something to do with it .. I can see the tower out of the bedroom window.

I went away for a week to see if it would go away and it did almost completely then I came back and within 5 minutes of being in the bedroom it started up again.

I've been to Dr's and specialists and my hearing is normal, no loss. They can't explain the tinnitus but say the EMR is a real possibility.

I've got what is essentially a tin foil hat on order to see if that helps.

      It's totally crazy.
