Hey y'all, found this forum today. Thank you for having such a great forum.

I need advice. Recently, the past months my T has gotten worse. However it goes up and down? Some days are worse than others and i really have no clue why this is happening. Doctors cant find anything wrong with me and they just tell me to go home and live with it.

But recently it has been going down a lot even got back to normal and everything was good, this has been causing me a LOT of anxiety as well.

But today when i was done with my dishes i heard a new ringing tone in my right ear, about medium loud, running water and tv drowns it out. Ive been having "bursts" of tinnitus through my whole life so i thought it was just something like that (like it gets really loud for a couple seconds and then its back to normal), but it hasn't gone down yet.

After like 2 hours though i had.. like a loud burst and then it went quieter? And then came back again but quieter?

So now I'm just lying in my bed trying to calm down but I can't. Anyone got any idea what's going on even? :(

Hard to know: the hearing apparatus is complex and many things could be causing such variations.

What does your hearing situation look like? Do you have any results from hearing tests? Have you done any imaging? etc...

Listen to your body and begin protecting your ears when doing the dishes. Try to stay away from moderate noises like that of a vacuum cleaner.

Check out the thread below where I summarize everything (24 tips spread over three posts) I learned about managing tinnitus after reading the posts on this forum for the past 11 months

I get these sudden, temporary bursts as well but I differentiate it from my normal tinnitus spikes. For me the burst is actually momentary hearing loss which then accentuates the tinnitus. It's fairly common but more noticeable for those with tinnitus.

      Hi @Astreodea

You have had tinnitus for quite a while and it usually gets worse for a reason. Since you have been to ENT and tests have been carried out on your auditory system and no problems have been found. There are a few things that could be causing the increase. If you are under more stress than usual this can causing your tinnitus to be more intrusive. Or have you been listening to loud music recently using headphones or going to places were loud music is played? These two things are the usually responsible for tinnitus increase when there is no underlying medical condition responsible for it. Such as hearing loss or an inner ear problem.

Please click on the links below and read my posts: Sound sensitivity of the type you are describing is usually a result of hyperacusis (sensitivity to sound) and needs to be treated, more information is below.

      All the best

Funny I find that vacuuming causes my T to stop temporarily especially if it is really hissing loud.
