Done. My opinion is less important than those of other people because until now I do not have a smartphone (and a cellular subscription to the internet) and I do not have a tonal tinnitus (it is, moreover, impossible to describe it). In fact, I would buy all the equipment if there were effective applications (especially re-training not only masking) for all types of tinnitus (including non tonal) on the market.

Thank to those who developed this survey.

Done, thanks @Samir and the team for your energy and commitment.
Can you have these announcements flashing or repeat them as I had missed it, then you may get a better response...also there was talk of a bracelet that detected accurately sound levels...is this still on the cards and who was working on it?

Thanks all for the positive responses in the survey, approx 2,000 people caring enough to respond is pretty awesome.

It's still open so feel free to fill it if you haven't yet.

      Some interesting findings:

      • 58% males, 42% females
      • 45% are 60 or older (this especially is important for us so we can build an app that caters for this age group too)
        —72% are 50 or older
      • 60% haven't previously used any app for trying to mask or treat their tinnitus
      • 82% have headphones they can use with an app
      • 60% of those who hadn't tried any such app before weren't aware there were any available
      • 91% of respondents have had tinnitus for 1 year or longe
—31% have had tinnitus for longer than 10 years
      • 23% state they are not able to mask their tinnitus with anything
      • 67% don't know the pitch of their tinnitus
      • 85% would like to find their pitch with our app
      • 80% don't know what "notched music therapy", "acoustic neuromodulation", or "amplitude modulation" mean
      • 56% have mild-to-moderate hearing loss
      • 77% would like to test our app, 22% would possibly like to test it, 1% not interested
      • 34% think an app should be completely free - not willing to pay a penny, while the majority wants to support its development and maintenance by paying for it
      • We also got a good number of interested people who'd like to be in our app feedback group, from all walks of life (from professional developers and app enthusiasts to normal users).

Yes, I seem to recall I did send an alert though to all members, but it's never a bad idea to further improve discoverability of important news.

That was something @awbw8 was investigating. Last I heard from her, she was going to discuss it with some of her industry friends.

Early last week we put the finishing touches on a 14-page app brief - including detailed UI mockups and descriptions of technical functionalities we are looking for in the version 1 of the app.

The amount of work that went into this stage was staggering. @Steve did a hell of a job outlining the ins and outs of each module. Together we then dedicated a lot of time to making it as good as we can.

Finally, the brief was sent to the generous party responsible for organizing the development of it.

That said, we're leaning towards "it's ready when it's ready," to not disappoint or over promise. Hopefully you'll be able to test the app soon enough.

Any sound requests will be useful here too.

I have a bank of audio I've recorded over the years but I want to record more. I also have a bank of synthesised sounds so if there any particular computer generated sounds I can do more of these.

I think neuro-modulation sound program, similar of that generall fuzz, would be brilliant:)
To me that is far more important than any masking noises.
