      Hello,

      Let me introduce myself.
I'm Lilpeep. I'm 22 years old and live in Amsterdam.

So i went to this party last Friday and became pretty drunk. I'm always listening to loud music in my in-ear headphones so I'm used to loud music. After the party I had tinnitus. I was stressing crazy about it. My whole easter was ruined. Just 5 days later I went to the doctor, he told me nothing was wrong with my ears. I smoke a lot and also did it those 5 days. But now (same day as I went to doctor) my tinnitus suddenly disappears. Crazy right? So after 5 days the tinnitus can leave. Stupid that I was stressing about it so much.

I'm glad your T was very temporary. Please use that as a "wake up call" and be kind to your ears from now on. No loud music through headphones, and protect them with ear plugs when around loud noise.
Tell your friends to protect their ears too. You don't want to have T come back permanent!

would you say the same about, e.g., cancer? It simply doesnt work that way. Consider yourself lucky, for some it continues to be a full blasting disability. For some it goes, for some it stays.

Having said that; protect your ears. Since you found your way to this forum you were obviously distressed. Plug those ears.

One year ago I thought my life was over too, but the T slowly faded, and continues to fade.
I'm so sorry we all have to suffer with this, but it can, and in most cases does, fade in 1-2 years.
Give it time, protect your ears, and be careful of what prescription meds you take because some of them cause ringing as a side effect.
Having T has been the hardest thing in my life I ever had to endure, but I am getting thru it, and so can you!

Well, for me it was at least 3-4 months before I saw any improvement, and even then it was only a little. I would say it was 6 months or so before I could really notice it was fading. I'm 18 months in now, and about 90% faded. I hope in another 6 months I will be pretty much over it.

Did this fading happen after you manage to control your emotions towards the tinnitus sound? I think reaction plays a key role. I changed the way I think of it, not fearing it, convinced that it will fade, trying to deeply believe that. No results so far, but hope it will come gradually.

Actually I never was able to manage my emotions about my T. I would have emotional breakdowns well into my first year. I stressed about it all the time, and that did not seem to affect the healing process. IMO it's ok and natural to be stressed about it.

I dont go to events or cinema, but dont wear earplugs when outside, so ambulance passes me and motorcyles and cause more cochlea damage.

      Stop smoking!!!!!
It was not only the loud music, but also the heavy smoking!
You were given a warning. This could be (tinnitus) if you continue with the heavy smoking and loud music. Learn from this experience and make sure you will not get tinnitus again, doing the same thing. You may get tinnitus a second time and it may stay for the rest of your life.
You were crazy lucky, do not push your luck!
Some get tinnitus just from the heavy smoking!!!!!!

Actually, the first time 12 years ago I was laid off from my Tool & Die company (the economy was terrible back then), so I was off during the worst part of my T.
As far as ear plugs, I don't wear them outside, but for the first year I would wear them whenever I went to the store, or a restaurant, ect... The only place I still wear them is at the Gym (it can get loud there)
I no longer go to any sporting events or concerts or movies. Maybe someday I will again, but not until my ears are 100%, and only with ear plugs.

Tinnitus even if temporary is a sign of hearing loss. Even if it goes away the hearing loss is still present even if super mild and you must not make the same mistake again of blasting loud music. You don't want to be damned like me

Ten years ago I had idiopathic peripheral neuropathy. Four years later it resolved by itself. I really suffered a lot. But that neuropathy was nothing compared to tinnitus.

My T became so calm after 4weeks that I thought it was gone for good and posted in this success forum. I did not do anything to return it but it returned next day and its been there like that since 5months. It was just 1 day in last 6months where it was very silent. I don't know why it became so quiet I can't remember if I did anything special that. I just ate healthy stopped coffee and sugars. I am doing that even now but T is still there very loud.

Do protect your ears. Do not use headphones. I use in very low volume since T.
