Under Attack

There is little doubt that I have come under attack on here recently.

It appears to stem from the fact that I consistently stand up for the most severe sufferers, and repeatedly attempt to protect them from ‘trolls’ who demean them for whining, often described as ‘negativity,’ when what they are desperately looking for is recognition, understanding, and support.
They must certainly have my recognition, understanding, support, and my love.
For this stance I am reviled.

I also come under attack for being an agnostic - believing that none of us can ‘know’ of the existence of, or ‘understand the mindset of’ any possible god.
For having the honesty to admit this belief, I am a hated figure.
Don’t get me wrong.
I am more than happy that people enjoy their faith. My lovely wife is a firm believer.
It just does not convince or appeal to me, that’s all.

It has also been suggested that I should attempt to do some charity work:
“It might teach me a lot about myself.”
(The implication being that I do none !!!)

Vitriol has been spewing out of just a couple of irate members, I actually believe because their attempt at bullying me simply rolls off of my more than adequate shoulders.

I have also been told that my diabolically severe tinnitus is just a ‘little story’ that impresses no one, and that I hide behind pictures of my adorable pussycats.

Guess what - “I LOVE PUSSYCATS!”

Apparently these critics making such personal attacks on me, can read between the lines.
Well I sincerely hope they can at least read.

I will answer none of these accusations.
Please make up your own minds.

That sucks that you going thru such things in a place that is supposed to be more for support, Jazzer. I hope it stops for everyone's sake. Trolling and hate have no place here.

That's a great picture you caught of your cat sleeping. I try with mine but when I move an inch, mine wakes up like a fire alarm just went off with that crazy eye look.

@Jazzer I haven't had the chance to read what happened yet. But you are one of the best of the best and I know you realize how you have been there for others like @Bam.

Not to mention your donations to this site and many fundraisers despite the hardships on your finances. And you do so without any bragging or expectations.

Also the charity work you and your Sylvie do through out the years for the children's hospital.

Charity is exactly what you do each and every day.

One thing people sometimes don't like about me is how I defend my friends.

We each bring unique perspectives of our own experiences to Tinnitus Talk.

I am in 100% agreement about this. I don't like people being called negative because they express their suffering. People can't wear a fake smile 24/7. They need an outlet for their pain. They need a safe space to whine, complain, cry, lament, and curse the universe.

Shortly after I joined TT I posted a thread full of fear and anger and got criticized and called negative. That pissed me off, but it also made me reluctant to express those feelings. We may have to put on a brave face at work and even at home, but we shouldn't have to hide our true feelings here, among the very people who are capable of understanding those feelings.

So keep on supporting those suffering people. You, and they, have my support as well.

 

You must be making those kitties work awfully hard in your feline sweatshop.

 

My mind was made up when we became friends last April, Dave. I know I have said this perhaps far too many times already, but here goes anyway. If I hadn't found TT when I did, who knows where I would be right now. It was you and many other wonderfully, supportive members who guided me through some of the worst days of my life.

I am happy to hear that you will not answer to those who make you question yourself. Keep doing what you do here, Dave.

I always speak from my heart, except when attacked, then my sense of humour comes to the surface and sees me through, with just a touch of cynicism.
I will not speak from anger.

When she is on the machine, Percy is on the computer.
He loves her so much, he never wants to leave the workshop.
(He also loves his dad.....I’m pleased to say.)

Jazzer stood up to the plate and came to meet me when others would never have done. He had no idea I wasn’t some fruit loop. He’s courageous, humorous in the face of adversity, honest and has integrity. Top bloke. If the cure arrived I would happily wait in line to watch him get it first....and then mug the bastard in the car park!!

 

Certainly is a theme around here, yes.

Dear folks of Tinnitus Talk,
We all have totally different life experiences, the only approximate similarity being that we are all affected to some degree or other by this wretched affliction.
I say ‘approximate similarity’ because severity varies from mild, to hideous.

It is precisely the difference in severity that leads to accusations of ‘whining’ and ‘negativity.’
I personally will not respond to any post that contains these expressions.

It is also the difference in severity that gives rise to puerile suggestions that ‘happiness’ is somehow a choice.
There is no such choice.

I personally will reply to no post that makes such a suggestion.
They are my rules.

People hurt, people despair, people suffer so badly, continuously, and more often than not, barely manage, even with incredible courage and fortitude to scrape by.
I am one of those.
We all need non-judgemental kindness, and support.

My adorable wife Sylvie, and I sailed away from St Lucia this afternoon in a storm squall, followed by this beautiful rainbow.
I just wanted to share it folks.
