We all seem to have two postions here on TT. First, the optimists and second the realists. Question for both camps, and be honest based on current research and development.

Do you firmly believe, there will be a cure or substantial treatment for T in less than 20 years from today? If yes or no, what brings you to this conclusion? Example: Is it faith in God, hope to habituate, faith in modern science and research, luck, etc.

      Thanks, Sailboardman

No. Reason, my audiologist said tinnitus is like a 10,000 piece puzzle and we have 2 pieces.

All my optimism is gone with autifony, even though I wasn't crazy optimistic, somewhere deep down I was hoping it will help, especially after those two positive feedbacks.

Reality is that tinnitus is/will continue to be marginalised to the point it hurts.
No body cares and things are moving painfully slow, it's like hitting one brick wall after another:(

      Cure? Nagler was right!

      Quite possibly, but maybe not.

What I know, is that I don't know.

What brings me to this conclusion, is my mind.

To me it seems like a wonderful dream, and I live in reality.

Truly it doesn't matter. .You can have hope, but hope won't cure your T...money be better..a shit ton of it...basically I will put my faith into Tony Stark..I am pretty sure he'll figure it out.

Said this in previous TT discussions on this topic:

"Cure"? No. And not because nobody cares. It's a complex disorder that probably has different causes and development pathways in different people. I personally don't think tinnitus ever will be "cured" -- like many other medical conditions, some of them terrible and fatal.

Better management techniques and treatments? Yes. And I think these treatments will make tinnitus much more bearable for many people.

Omg how can you say no, read this

      http://www.eurekalert.org/pub_releases/2015-09/gumc-nub091615.php

Not to mention everyday more companies are jumping in into this condition , there already some treatment options that help some, and more are being tested, drugs, surgeries and what not, so I say yes in around 5 years we will have something

The thing about Trobalt from reading over the user experiences thread, I don't know if it actually IS a start. From what I've read, it's only worked well and consistently for maybe two to three people. I wish whoever created the thread would gather up results and make some sort of data chart of the results to see if it's actually effective...

Safer than trobalt, is 10x more potent. Hey, there's going to be something. Trobalt was just a stepping stone for potassium channel modulators.

      Dear God...

Can you not start with this again? You thought Autifony was going to be the cure. Now you are saying it will be SF0034 which hasn't even seen phase 1 trials yet? SF0034 may be more potent, but there is no guarantee it will be safer in humans than Trobalt. Without studies we don't know.

Please try to understand that there might not be any working pharmacological solutions to tinnitus being worked on. It might take decades for us to get any help.

      Do you get that???????!?!?!??!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

Actually, Autifony's drug didn't work in the same way as tr0balt. Trobalt works on the KV7 channels and Autifony works on a completely different channels KV3. So they were totally different. SF works on the KV7 channels like trobalt does. It's best to be hopeful, is it not?

I agree with you. But placing one's hopes of recovery for a drug that may or may not work, may or may not become available, is counterintuitive.

It is better to focus on treatments that are available now, and those are the ones that try to make us habituate to the noise than to wait for some magic bullet in the future.

      don't you agree?

Agree, autifony fail is still very fresh and distressing to even start with sf 00whatever that hasn't even seen the daylight!
Please @Danny Boy don't even go there, for now at least!

All I'm saying is, I've used trobalt and it does lower tinnitus so a more potent ,safer version of trobalt sounds grand to me. As for treatments today, TRT is expensive and doesn't do much, other than tell you to live with it. I agree sound therapy is detrimental for a suffer:

Seems logical, traveling down under should make tinnitus go down as well.

We still don't have a diagnostic model beyond "you have tinnitus...sorry", thus we are only talking really about symptomatic relief, not a cure. Imagine going to a Cardiologist and hearing "you have chest pain, there's nothing that can be done, but here's a painkiller".

They should feel at home in the barren hills around Townsville.
