I am a retired physician who developed initially right sided followed by left sided tinnitus at age 59 related to ultra high frequency hearing loss (ie > 10 Kz) which persisted for 6 years and became unmaskeable after 4 years. I did well for 8 years with low volume non bothersome tinnitus until a single very aggressive chiropractic cervical neck maneuver set off a constant non pulsatile tinnitus in my right ear and pulsatile tinnitus in my left ear.
