My audiologist's opinion is that ENTs should refrain from trying to treat tinnitus as much as possible. Since messing about with your ears may just make things worse.

I asked about a muscle relaxant, but the ENT didn't think they'd help. I'm very naughty right now, I have some very old Norflex in my cupboard, and I've started taking them. The expiry date is long past, but there must be some strength left in them. Worth trying anyway.

Sometimes my tinnitus would get louder right after the massage, but after about half an hour or so it would calm down to a slighter lower volume. I think it mainly helped in easing tensions round the neck and face which also eased the tinnitus slightly.
