Are Crackling and Distortions Symptoms of Loudness Hyperacusis?

I just realized that my distortions are very likely due to "loudness hyperacusis." I can tolerate normal noises, but as soon as the volume rises above an average level, everything distorts and sounds ten times louder than it should. Yesterday, while talking to a checkout person at the...

Vibrating Sensation in Ear Triggered by Certain Sounds?

I am worried that my condition is getting worse. I suffered an acoustic shock four months ago and have been experiencing a constant, strange sensation in my ear—sometimes a wet, cold feeling, along with intermittent aching in my jaw and ear. I also have loudness hyperacusis and distorted voices...

I think sound is out to get me. I was at the supermarket yesterday putting bags of shopping in my boot (trunk) and out of ALL the cars that an alarm could go off on is the one opposite me with NO ONE even near it to set it off. Sound is definitely out to destroy me.

Toddler Screamed Nearby → My Right Ear Feels Full & Slightly Distorted

Just an early August update. I am getting so frustrated as my hearing is becoming more and more distorted. Today, I had a few family members around, and I couldn't cope. Their voices were distorted, and my own voice was distorted too. It's like a harshness to the voices that is very...

Interesting you ask this as this is how I found the user too as I am wondering about laser vs drill, I don't think he has been on here lately sadly, his dental post was from 2013.

Newest Dentist Visit Recommendations for a Person with Pre-Existing Tinnitus / Hyperacusis?

I have a dental visit coming up as my lower right wisdom tooth filling has come off, and the tooth is cutting my cheek, so I can't leave it. I am terrified, I have not been to the dentist since getting tinnitus, hyperacusis, and possible TTTS, and sadly the tooth is right on my worst side. Is...

Toddler Screamed Nearby → My Right Ear Feels Full & Slightly Distorted

Damn this, I now have a fluttering in my right ear, and nothing is improving. I have no idea if I am mentally giving myself Tonic Tensor Tympani Syndrome or if I actually have it. I didn't know that ear fluttering was a symptom of Tonic Tensor Tympani Syndrome until I read about it two weeks...

My Entire Tinnitus and Hyperacusis Story — From Hell to Paradise

I never even knew or thought of sound booths—what a wonderful idea! My tinnitus is reactive, so that could work well. I also live 20 meters from four years' worth of construction work, and the reverse alarm beeping is destroying me.

Toddler Screamed Nearby → My Right Ear Feels Full & Slightly Distorted

Thanks, everyone. Unfortunately, things have gotten a lot worse, although the feeling of fullness has improved. I now can't sleep. As soon as I start to doze off, I am woken up by my jaw clenching and a headache. My jaw is sore around the right ear area, especially when I'm lying down. For the...

My Tinnitus Has Seriously Improved Over 6 Months Since Acoustic Trauma

Thanks for the post. It’s great to hear you are improving. Unfortunately, I have never taken Prednisone. Can I ask what type of earplugs you wear in the shower? I have been having bowl and flannel washes because I am terrified of using the shower since it is so noisy. I now regret removing the...
