Seems they’re better off injecting one person and one ear at a time and comparing the treated ear to the ‘good’ or placebo ear — in the same person. Averaging treated populations to placebo populations over time with the advertisement of ‘you need poor word scores’ — which was well known in this...

IF this is the case, it’s fantastic for all of us — the science works — and we move forward to Phase 3.

This might be the case but need a large Phase 3 — with all comers — to see who it benefits. And based on that the FDA makes recommendations.

I used to do research for a living at least part time. In smaller studies — like Phase 2s — you are not recruiting a lot of participants (typically). To find a signal in a smaller study — keep in mind Frequency Therapeutics found a signal in their Phase I study with speech recognition — you want...

Darn... Yes. I apologize. I am way BULLISH on the results being positive because I think FREQ has gone out and recruited a cohort that very likely will confirm the Phase 1a results for signal in noise. Money is where my mouth/texting is.

The study will likely yield positive results. The reason I’m bearish here — and literally all in — is the fact that Frequency Therapeutics cherry-picked its participants. A lot of us — me included — tried to get in on this phase of the study but were told we did not meet criteria — which we...

Theoretically if we restored the damage that started the phenomenon then the brain would be neuroplastic enough to go back to normal. I think we are all looking at this from the wrong side of the coin. Yes, restoring hearing would add input — but I think there’s evidence that it’s actually...

I understand. But the LGR+ cells are going to have to generate a lot of hair cells to have some semblance of adequate hearing in profound hearing loss (with no increase in LGR+ population). If it’s one and done, in someone with profound hearing loss, then there may not going to be enough hair...

Regarding support cells... Not going to be able to cite the source but I have seen a report showing that in temporal bone specimens in those who died and had profound hearing loss, it showed intact support cells despite no hair cells. The problem — I think — is going to be the doubling and...

I think that FREQ thinks that with a phase 2a study they’ll b able to move straight into phase 3. That’s why they’re being so picky with enrollment now. I remember her saying that (if that’s the case,) they’ll need a lot of subjects for phase 3 (and thus implying they’ll not be as picky).

I tried to enroll in this phase of the study almost a year ago or so — way before the COVID-19 mess. They asked me to send my audiograms (had SSNHL in right ear with ski slope and stable audiogram over the past 5 years). It took them forever to get back to me and when they did, they said I...
