@Jack Straw Thank you for checking in. I wish I could tell you I was doing better. In addition to my chronic pain, reactive tinnitus, hyperacusis, I am trying to get a diagnosis for diabetes or a gastrointestinal issue. (And thus have eaten very little the past week) I am scared for my financial future as I don't know what job I could possibly do.

My retail job has cut my hours massively after turning in my ADA. Neurology appointment this week. Crossing fingers that I can get the ball rolling for facial injections or surgery.

@Red . Is there any jobs you can do from home?

@Jack Straw A job from home requires a computer. I cannot use a computer. Unless a miracle happens and my chronic pain is cured, I can't do anything requiring a computer, filing or handling papers, or anything else dextrous. I can't lift more than 3 pounds. I can't tolerate a lot of noise because of H.

I am very sorry to hear that red. Can you use a phone? There are companies that use people to translate phone conversations between deaf people and people who can hear.

@Jack Straw After my hyperacusis worsened in September, I can no longer use a phone. I cannot watch TV. I cannot listen to music. If the sound comes from any speaker, I hurt. Only natural sounds, like voices, I can tolerate.

@Jack Straw It's okay. Thank you though. I am very broken and I need either my hyperacusis to improve and stabilize or for my chronic pain to.

Chronic pain sucks big time too.... can't really compare which one is worse: chronic pain or hyperacusis or tinnitus, alll of them suck

How do you get to work then? I can tolerate music and televisions but I can’t tolerate being in a car. So I’m just curious.

@Layla23 I'm not bothered by car sounds. In general I'm not bothered by low frequencies unless they are really loud. When they are loud I usually just get tension headaches which aren't so bad but high frequencies do a number on me. I can stand right next to my heater unit and be fine but can't tolerate the TV even on the lowest setting.

Generally, sounds in speakers are compressed into high frequencies.

That’s why I struggle with cellphones still. But I’m okay listening to the tv now. It took a few months but I’m generally okay at a low volume. I can’t go outside though. And car vibrations are a bitch for me still.

Often other car sounds do bother me though. I think it's also important to have a car with a quiet, smooth engine. I lyft a lot (casual taxi service dunnobif you USA) and notice a big difference in comfort sometimes depending who I ride with.
