How long ago did you begin having problems with your ears? Keep in mind that ears often heal by themselves (although this can take many months or even 2-3 years). Also keep in mind that medical procedures can backfire and make things worse...

Around two months at his point. 3-4 weeks of middle ear infection; another 4 weeks post-infection. I know it’s not a long time, especially for veterans like yourself Bill (my condolences) but..well, we all want our T gone, and the surgery seems harmless enough.

If there’s fluid / mucus trapped in my ear cavity and it can’t get out because of ETD (or the air pressure can’t regulate properly)...Steam inhalation, nasal sprays, yawning, jumping, swallowing, chewing gum - it’s not having much effect. Balloon dilatation might do the trick. And if not...back to the waiting game.

My initial complaint was H. Nowadays I know that H reliably goes away on its own. My T turned on in the evening of the day of my hearing test. As a result, I ended up basically losing two years of my life. I believe my T was caused by one of the hearing tests...

I’m sorry Bill. That must have been a extremely tough time.
Your mental resilience must be titanium at this point.
I’m actually thinking of cancelling my dental appointment for next month, or asking that manual tools be used instead.

Perhaps, you’re right. I need to stop reading horror stories on this forum.
It’s just that the noise last night was akin to dozens of high-vibration steel wires relentlessly scraping against each other. It’s quieter today - the ear released some air, reducing pressure, etc, etc.
    Thanks again.

If it's a dental cleaning appointment, there is no need to cancel it. But make sure to ask for them to use only the manual tools. There is no downside - manual tools are as effective as the ultrasonic scaler.
