I never understood what "graduate" exactly refers to, in the US. Is it an MSc or a PhD?

They are both considered graduate degrees! A graduate degree/program refers to an advanced academic degree in a specialized field of study pursued after someone has obtained a bachelor's degree (4 year undergraduate program). Hope that cleared up the confusion :) @buttercake

Ah, I see! So does a bachelor's degree last 4 years in the US? In Europe it lasts 3 pretty much everywhere.
