I've currently been 100% remote since my firm shut down in March from covid. At first it took some adjustment, but now it's working out well. My current job req's a ton of communication, which I do well remotely. I def don't miss the commute, put about 100 miles on my truck since march, 2020. There are talks about "everyone coming back" .. not sure I'm feeling it.
I agree with @ajc . It's probably a double edged sword. At the moment I am living in a country which is not my own and we are "strongly encouraged" to work from home, so I am completely isolated. I think I would have confronted my tinnitus better if I had my old routines of going to the office and meeting few colleagues...
Even though I am somewhat reserved, I'm finding that I miss the camaraderie of working with people and being part of a team. Ironically, most of my career I was on a team and hated it. My husband went back to his office about 2 months ago and it has helped him mentally. He said he is more productive in the office without the distractions of home. He is asking his staff to return in June.
