Sounds like TTTS. Ive had it, and to my experience and knowledge it will usually "burn out" eventually @NYCGuy . My best advice, though not easy, would try to not focus to much on it. Its annoying yes. If I do recall correclt it stayed for a year or so for me. Some days worse than others.

I was told by my audiologist that there is also a big psychological component to TTTS. The more you focus on it, and the more fear to sound you build up, the worse it gets (tensor tympani tenses up). It will get better for you with time @NYCGuy - better days ahead!

I had TTTS for several months last year after a noise exposure. It ultimately went away by itself, one day I just realized it was gone. Now if only T & H would do that.

Maybe 6 or 7 months tops. It came about from a patron's innocent mistake (I work in a public library). I was helping her fill out some kind of application on a computer and she said here, talk to my attorney and she stuck a phone up to my ear *and put it on speaker* and that ear, my left, my "bad" ear started spasming.

I swatted it away and it hit the floor. She aplogised after I explained (and showed her my Peltor muffs). I had "fluttering" inside that ear until earlier this year and I noticed it had stopped. It was like hiccups, you forget about 'em and they go away eventually.

I just got a scrip for Clomipramine for H. I've been using online docs, since docs in my town are terrified of prescribing anything off-label. Dr Miguel Antonatos, brilliant. Love the guy. He calls it hyperacusia. Helped me more than the last 5 local docs I've seen. He also got me on LD Naltrexone, which isn't even an antidepresant but it acts like one..
