Fingers crossed, your little adventure won't have any repercussions. Sometimes, you just need a break from routine and a pontoon boat trip sounds like a lovely thing to do, especially in summertime.
I would not have went if it was a speed boat. It was quiet when we were in the no wake zone but 77-78dba when we kicked the engine up to 15mph. I'm not sure when to use C-weight so maybe it was louder. It felt loud but I trusted my decibel meter. I also couldnt measure wind volume but it felt no stronger than a windy day. It wasn't like driving down the highway with windows down. I was out for about 1.5 hours.
My ears were hissing like crazy, making radio tuning sounds, and high-pitched ringing last night. I feel like the static in my right ear is louder, but I honestly never pay attention to it to really know if it is or not. I can hear it over my fan, but I don't remember if I could before. It's been bothering me, but I'm not sure if it's because I'm paying attention to it.
Driving in the car with earplugs in at about 70-72dba spikes me nowadays so obviously this boat ride will. Hoping the spike is not permanent and I will probably never do it again since there's no way of determining if there was any cumulative damage or not.
Ive been wondering if my reactive radio tuning squeals will get knocked out if I get steroids in my ear... Im still looking for a dr. to do this sooner than later as Im in my 3rd month. Hmm..I dont think I spike like you...its just gets worse and maintains. Glad you are active and out!
@Leila The last two days have been difficult. Hopefully it settles down and I can just use the experience as another data point, rather than a life-changing event.
